MAX or Nu64 about forum software,

hi, Im messin about sorting out a forum and a server, I found a software for forums which looks like this one from the smilies.

But Im havin trouble setting it up, Im usin windows xp pro for iis.

can you give me a clue how to et it up, iv read the instruction that come with it and when i try to access the install php file my computer tries to download it, strange,

or if you know a better prog that would be good also.

I found my problem I have't installed the php prog to run the php, i thought it was with iis windows, :)

silly me.

I am using PHPBB.

You need a webserver (Apache), PHP and MYSQL. I am running this on a Linux box, but all should work on XP as well.

Max of nu64, right iv sorted the php prog that works, iv dopwnlaoded the database prog, mysql where do i install it to? my computer or the dir for the website (on my computer)

Also after that, the php forum install page askes for the data base name and passwprd etc what do i put here cos i havent set a pw for it.

right got the database user name a pw sorted, so now that running, yay.

Right, back to the phpbb installing, This is what i have put in my options does this look ok to u?

Basic config
lanuage..... english
DB type mysql 4
installation method... install

database config.
Database Server Hostname / DSN: dont know?!?!?!?!
Your Database Name dont know?!?!?!!
Database Username know ok
Database Password know ok
Prefix for tables in database phpbb_ (was already writen)

Admin Configuration
Admin Email Address me@hotmail.com ok
Domain Name 192.168.0.70
Server Port 80
Script path /phpBB2/
Administrator Username ok know
Administrator Password ok know
Administrator Password [ Confirm ok know,

Can you help with the blanks. plzz :D :D :D

iv got it workin, but god knows what i did when i was makein the database, lol. :D :D
said it had an error but still works, :)

For some reason it wont let me upload a vatar, says its wrong formate, but its not, :(:(

Also is there soma way of allowin ppl to upload a pic to the posts?
or do u know anywher i can get soem good avatars and styles mods etc, cos the phpbb site is a little lackin in that dept.

Iv found a load of styles, just gatta get some "good" avatars, lol. only jokin.

I shouldnt of posted, I figure it out in time, lol. but thansk anyway.

next is finding out how to install them, ill sit on my hands 5 min it will come to me. lol.
