So far so good here. Sustained winds at 15 mph. Max gust at 45 mph. The coast is getting hit hard.

It's been windy with increasing cloud all day here. Just as you get before a storm. The rain will start around 3 a.m. tonight. I just went to the Intellicast site. Jarg is underneath the centre of the storm, and the leading edge is already past Scify. -Whoa, just checked the latest image, Scify is already more than half way past the edge towards the centre. The leading edge has passed Slayed & Blonde Hotties location. It's on the south coast of Lake Ontario. Me next.

I've removed all loose items from my yard, and taken down the flag pole. I should just have time for some UT tonight before the storm hits. :|

We are getting more powerful gust here, but still not too bad. The bummer is that I think it is cold outside. I guess 70 degrees is cold for a southerner like me, especially in 40 MPH winds and rain...

LOL. As I was typing this, a small branch fell on the deck....

lol Hey Jarg, I hope that branch didn't give you flashbacks of a tree sitting in your livingroom...

OK people, I'm still here. the category 2 storm came on shore not too far from Cape Lookout, NC around 1 PM this afternoon. around my parts (Raleigh / Durham / Chapel Hill), the worst didn't come until mid to late afternoon and into the evening. strong winds mostly, some trees are down around the cities, and some lost power. after landfall, the center of the storm tracked northwest, near Greenville and then Roanoke Rapids, both in NC and to the east of where I am.

got off work around noon as the office decided to close early. the trip home on Interstate 40 wasn't exactly fun. not only did I have the rain and the wind to contend with, we got these !@#$% tractor-trailers speeding on the interstate, spewing water from their tires left and right. we also had leaves blowing all over the place and construction debris on the freeway (a long stretch of I-40 is being widened). even saw a bucket rolling across the lanes on I-40.

nevertheless, I'm here now, and the storm will be over soon. it's now weakened to a tropical strom, in Scify-land (Virginia). hopefully she's far enough west that the effects of the storm will be minimal. if I'm not mistaken, Jargonaut is in the northern mountains of NC, so I'd imagine that there'd be little or no damage.

best of luck everyone, and be safe.

Other than a few small branches down, the worst damage that I got was the leaves on the ground. I'll take it.

Clem, Sci, Glad to hear you made it okay.

Yep, pretty much a non-event as I'd hoped. Just a few small branches down off of the oak tree in my front yard. Most of them dead ones. Not too much rain either. It came down heavily once in a while, but not for long. We've had much worse weather from ordinary storms. Nice weather predicted for the weekend! :D
