the group is " alt.games.unreal.tournament " and
" alt.games.unreal.tournament2003 "

Now a link may or may not work depending on your ISP and mail/news reader but we'll give it a try :D

news://alt.games.unreal.tournament

and

news://alt.games.unreal.tournament2003

Hey Herm

I know about 3 months ago I was posting to the UT newsgroup with this forum in my sig file. Funny how all of a sudden we had a surge of new folks. I was wondering if I'm the only one reading the UT newsgroup. ( or the UT2K3 group for the matter )

{DIS}_MickeyM©
I read the newsgroups, but they've been real quiet for about 6 months or so. I wonder if people have moved on to another game.

I think UT2K3 fractured the UT community into tiny little pieces that couldn't hold together. I wonder how much longer the UT series will last... :(

I tried UT2k3 and it sucked. Maybe 2k4 will be better. So, back to regular UT :-)

First you need to know your ISP's news server. For Comcast it's news.comcast.net ( just as a example ). If you are useing OE, the go into the "tools" menu and select "accounts". Then click on the "News" tab. Then click on the "Add" button. Fill in the info requested and your set. The first time you do this OE will ask if you want to download a list of all newsgroups. Say Yes. When it's done you'll have a box with a list of groups and a search feild at the top. Type in unreal ( lower case, always lower case! ). A list of all groups containing "unreal" will show. Then just highlight the ones you want ( one at a time ) and hit the "subscribe" button.

OR

Do Google groups 8-)

Herm

Your news server is

news-server.houston.rr.com

here's your ISP's help page for setting it up with FreeAgent

http://www.help.rr.com/getpage.asp?/faq ... Newsgroups

here's your ISP's help page for Windows and OE.

http://www.help.rr.com/getpage.asp?/faq ... s,selfhelp

Hope this helps :D

I don't want to use Outlook Express for newsgroups. What do you recommend that I should use instead?

I use OE ( I just like it ), but most hard core newsgroup readers seem to like Forte Agent or the freeware Forte FreeAgent.

I'm with you on this mickey OE is just easy to use and everything is on it except of course if your trying to view yenc post's then the war is on i actually downloaded free agent last night to see what its like or should i say changed as i tried it 2 yrs ago or so and didnt like it then have tried one or two others and having to download everything to a file on your hard drive before you could view anything was to much of a pain so they got scrapped if i find that agent has a decent viewer now may keep it i also heard that micro softies are developing it once again after they said they wouldnt do anymore with it maybe now they wil add yenc and stop that war heres hoping on that one

Hey Dark

Try this for Yenc files with OE
http://www.brawnylads.com/yproxy/

Go all the way to the bottom of the page, and DL the self installing version. It's a great program that acts as a Yenc proxy for OE and allows decodeing Yenc file from inside OE.

Thanks Mickey,

I haven't had the time to do it yet but I will and I look forward to it too. Thanks for the great instructions too! I hate bad instructions more than anything. I'll try to post something there when I get a chance later tonight.
