I now have one of Schwantz's former boxes that I've agreed to build the best server I can on and run it with the Redeemer Mod for 6 months with lots of Deck Maps. I will build it out and when it's ready, I will post that it's up and you can come by and visit. It will replace CG but the name will same pretty much the same. I suspect it will be much faster on the map changes and the ping might fair a little better too. I expect this will take about 4 business days to complete. Everyone including me owes the Boss a big thanks for this. I can't wait to get started!

Cool, the part I failed to mention earlier was that the package arrived and was damaged. I looked really bad at first I must say but after bending some stuff straight again the two main parts (CPU+Ram) are in good working order just as the board is. The only bad thing is that the first of 4 memory slots no longer supports any memory. I couldn't fix that. Schwantz sent it with 512mb of ram and that was all in one stick. The has 4 slots. 1 has his memory in it. 1 is broken. 2 now have 128mb sticks of ram so our new ram total for the server is 768. A very nice number indeed! I'll try to have it going by Saturday a latest. This will mean that I will have to take CG down on Friday. Bummer yes, but think of the payoff!

I'm really pleased that $20 of ExpressPost money gets a package handled so poorly that the fan and heatsink can be knocked off a socket 370 board (we all know what a bitch it is to get the Intel heatsink and fans on those boards) and actually bend the 512 Mb of PC133 RAM to bust the RAM socket? Geez.. Did the network card and video card survive Herm. I've got a couple of other Socket 370 boards here but i don't know what shape they are in..

When I built my pc the first time...several years ago...I got it and the case was warped....the motherboard and the cards didn't fit right. With some gentle nudging and pushing I got it all to work ok. That was the first time.

I shipped my box home about 3 years ago...from when I was stationed overseas. I had it insured and everything...it arived with the front case plastic cracked and broken...case warped....and on top of that...it had lost the original wrappings...about a month later they send me a letter saying they may have misplaced my shipment....(luckily I had written the address on my box as well as the wrapping....)....

I am a nice guy and said screw it...it would probably be more of a burden that it was worth to get my case replaced...all of the internal parts seemed to be intact...

My advice to all if you are going to ship a pc....dismantle the pc...wrapp all parts in bubble wrap (pretty cheap at your nearest office market) and ship them like that. They don't care about your package....

'''imagine your pc being overhand passed to a fellow employee.."""

btw, I would like to thank herm and schwantz for their dedication to the game and each other...
Take your time herm....do it right.

Hey Schwantz!

Everything else in in perfect order. The Nic, the Ram, the CD with all the goodies, the porn and the video card all came through perfectly! I have tested the board now thoroughly and haven't found anything wrong other than that one memory slot. I'm sure that won't matter a bit especially when you consider that CG has run in the past on as little as 90mb or so. I didn't get the drain plug to the kitchen sink you sent with it. Could there possible be anything that you forgot? LOL! I'm already on the third hard drive just testing stuff out. I'm on the third vid card too. I have decided what hardware and such and have fixed all of my incorrect led hook ups etc. I'm installing the final OS on it now! I've decided I think to go with a Voodoo 3000 AGP for the vid card! I can't wait to see it in Glide again. It's been years! Not for sure yet but we'll see. More as it comes along! Later all

I have to re-nig on my last statement. I said all was good except for the #1 ram slot. Well I worked with the board all night tonight and discovered and worked through a ton of other little issues. One error caused me to finally find a solution to a problem on-line and it fixed my issues. I was getting VXD VCACHE errors on everything I was doing. The PC would only boot every other time. It was driving me crazy! I updated the BIOS to 1005 which is the latest greatest and kept getting errors. I tried lots of different settings and stuff and finally got an IOS error everytime I booted. I looked up mine and there were lots of suggestions but one seemed right. It said to reseat the ram or replace it. I did reseat and the problem stayed. I replaced it and boom not another crash all night! Sorry Schwantz. Looks like the ram took a big hit too with the travel damage of course makes sense when you consider the whole slot was almost ripped off the board. I put in all three of my 128mb PC 133 Cas 2 sticks and she is flying high now! Not a single other crash tonight! I got to play with that Voodoo 3 3000 too. I tested it and I get 64 fps average on 10 cityintro test. Sweet for a card that's four years old! Smooth as silk. I will now wait to take CG this weekend so I can get the good 6GB drive out of it instead of this 2 GB I'm using now. I expect to be fully functional on Sunday night with Schwantz's sweet machine powering it all the way! The BIOS battery is dead too BTW. Might be a short where the ram slot pulled up. All in all, I'm stilled thrilled to no end. All I wanted was a PIII 500 or better to process for the server. Schwantz got me that and a lot more. Now, I can build a solid server from hell!!! Muhahaha ahahahaaa.......!
