Yeah ok we've all had a brush with carpal tunnel syndrome from using a computer mouse too much, right?

Well for about a week now my left wrist and hand have been sore as hell. I wondered what I'd banged them on; how I did it.

Last night I realized it's from the way I've been holding my keyboard hand in position while I'm playing UT.
I've bought a tensor bandage, and rearranged my keyboard setup, but the damage is done. I had to quit playing UT tonight because of the tenderness building up. :doubt:
This all sucks, because it has also made it hard to work on the bike, and I'm wondering if I'll start having trouble using the clutch on a long ride.

So unless it turns out that someone has been fluoridating my water supply and damaging the purity and essence of my precious bodily fluids; I'm going to have to cut down on my UT for a bit.
Dang! :x

LOL I know what you're talking about nameless. I actually bought these special gloves that help keep the hand warm and also restrict/support motion. I think they're called Handeze.

Also have a desk that tilts the keyboard/mouse surface down and back so that the wrist isn't flexed back.

I thought my gel filled wrist support would prevent this, but it actually abetted the process.

I have never had these problems...but I have a weird way of playing UT I guess.
I usually angle the keyboard at a 45 degree angle from my hand, so that the keyboard is pointing at my moniter. This makes it so i never have to twist my wrist ever.
But it just may be me.
Oh ...and I also use the number pad rather than the WASD, or WASZ set up most people do. This gets the keyboard almost totally out of my way....helps with drinking beer!!!HAHAHAHHA

I play with my arm resting along the support on the bottom of the keyboard(am lucky in having a support added to the bottom edge) and use the direction keys between the letters and numbers pads this keeps wrist pretty straight

I play like MetalMan described. I use the arrow keys for movement and I have the keyboard like the hands of a clock at 4:50 in relation to a clock with the monitor at twelve. I found it helps a lot.

I actually use the mouse in my left hand, and move via the arrow keys on the right side of the keyboard.

I have an ergonomic seat cushion and special monitor lighting. It's all for UT too, which is the sad thing about it.

I've been using my keyboard at the 2:40 position because I use the a-s-d-x keys for moving. I'll try the 4:50 position to see if it makes a difference.

Hey, I just noticed that moving the keyboard back to the normal position is better for typing.
Funny what a sore wrist will tell you.
It was not fun changing the fork oil on my bike yesterday. I think I aggravated the problem wrestling with those damn capnuts which are such a bugger to get back on and tighten, since you also have to depress the springs at the same time. Oh well. I washed and waxed the bike today.
Now all my spring tune up chores are finally done! :? :( :|

LOL I think we all know the real reason why you have a sore wrist, nameless ....

"Hold this position!"

Tri, since I can afford a Herman Miller Aeron Chair, I first bought one of those huge inflatable rubber exercise balls. You sit on the front and it is supposed to encourage "active sitting" (ie, you use your legs to constantly compensate etc). I wasn't good at balancing on the ball, so I bought this wedge cushion that has the middle cut out for your tailbone and ass. It helps me a lot.

Next purchase: the zero-gravity back chair. 8)

I just managed to get passed not buying a brand new Suzuki Hyabusa this year. If you don't know about this bike, it is currently the fastest production bike made in the US or should I I say sold in the USA? Stock, It hit's184 with the govenor. With a govenor bypass it seems to hit 210-220. I'm no stranger to high speed bikes but my last few topped out around 155 and not a MPH more. I managed not to throw down the credit-card and ride away this year but next year isn't looking good at all!!! Peace all.

No excuses; there's a FINE dealer in your own state! He has Hundreds of Harleys for sale. If you can afford a Mac, you can afford the real thing!

Glider ol' buddy you may have misdiagnosed the cause of the problem. It may not be from playing on your keyboard but something a little more traditional and time-honored. First how’s the vision? Mine sucks so I may need to do a little self-evaluation too. Second is there or has there ever been any unwanted (or otherwise) hair growth on the palm side of your hand? If you answer yes to either or all of these items you may be suffering from selfpleasureitis. Simply stop and should be well in your world again. Not as fun but well.

Hope I was of some assistance, Skank

PS:Mah, Your advise is suspect when it contains "huge, inflatable, rubber balls, sit on, the front, active sitting, use your legs, good at balancing, wedge, middle, tailbone, and ass" I'm not sure if it's advise or shorthand for a Berekely Barb personals advertisement..
