I use a PC at home now (my wife has the iMac and doesn't play "that damn game"). It does work out best for everyone to have their own computer...

Ratboy, very generous of you.

It seems that Macs are the computer of choice for WIVES.

Hang in there,

Mahatma

AND for Mom's of all kinds: there's less midnight "Tech Support".

Actually, I'm a longtime Mac user: I develop software for my employer using primarily a Mac G4 with two monitors on it. I'm very productive using the Mac. When we ported our software to the PC, I learned to use and then to develop software for it. Then I got a PC at home, and got to play PC games when they first came out instead of a year later (or never!).

So while I prefer to develop software on a Mac, I prefer to play games on a PC. And they say the *Mac* is "just a toy"!

OMG......Herm bought a Mac. WOW

Ok let me ask these simple questions real quick:

1> Did the world come to an end this weekend?

2> Did hell freeze over this weekend?

3> Did both of the 2 above events happen and somebody forgot to tell me?

Just kidding there Herm. Hope you enjoy the new toy. :D

I sent an email to you tonight with address info etc. Thanks! Bummer to find out that UT apparently runs better under OS9 than OSX. Strange too! Why would that be? When I launch the game the Mac actually switches to OS9 right then. That isn't the same or as good as booting into it though? Will the new OS work like this too?

I actually didnt notice any difference in game play in 9 or X. I've been playing with this half assed patch for X for like over a year now and haven't had any problems Herm. Did you install that patch I sent ya

Not yet! Can you tell me where you got it? I'd feel better about installing one file than one of the two that WINXP seems to see. I'd also rather download it straight to the mac since I've noticed that these .sit files seem to explode themselves and place themselves without asking me where I want them. What are the .PPC files by the way. I saw something like that on a Mac download site too when I was getting the demo. Learning this Mac stuff is going to take a lot longer than I thought but it will happen I'm sure. Another question:
With this OSX patch, do I need to have the full retail version installed or does it work with the demo too? That is another reason I haven't installed it. I'm actually afraid to cuz at this point, if I mess up the Mac, I won't know what to do with it and my wife will know exactly how far she'll putt her foot up my a**. Thanks!

The patch only works with the full version Herm. The patch is the 1.1 Mb file I sent ya but if you'd rather dload it for yourself here is the link.

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/6369

As far as .PPC files go I haven;t got a clue but I'll find out for ya.

The .sit files are opened by a prog called stuff it expander. go into your applications folder and find this prog and launch it. After that go up to your menu bar and click the name of the prog. from the subsequent drop down menu choose preferences. This is where you can change where you have the .sit file unstuffed. By default I believe it unstuffs it in the same area that the .sit file is located.(i.e., if the .sit file is on your desktop then thats where it will unstuff it.)
