I figured I caught it updating itself two days in a row, have they posted and excuse yet? How can they do that if the new system we're (yes I'll say it) going to have to buy isn't out yet. I'm just a penguin looking for the first one to jump. Bahaaaaaa!

thats not bad considering what i have heard about BT and there speeds didnt think they did over 500 tho thats the big cry from the cable companies anyway. BT is 500 and cables 600 guess you either got better connection then most or as usual cables telling a few fibs, will let you know about there 600k service after christmas when i go up to that speed.

If he posts the type of modem it is, I might be able to find some tweaks. Also, I know there are some registry tweaks that might help...but I have never tried them.

It is a Conexant HCF V90 56K RTAD Speakerphone PCI Modem.
Whatever some of that means.

Model: HCF V90 56K RTAD Speakerphone PCI

STRING: AT-V90=0

This string has been reported to create more reliable connections for people that have problems connecting with V.90 speeds. This will disable V.90.

http://www.tgrsolution.net/support/mode ... ring.shtml

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR INI STRING:
Bring up your device manager.
Open your modem properties.
Should be an advanced tab. There will be a text box labeled 'Initialization Commands.'
The last step is different for each modem.
Enter the Ini string there.

May need to reboot or disable then re-enable the device.

Might see if it makes a difference. If you encounter any problems, remove the string.

Like I said before, there are some regisrty tweaks that may help increase your speed, having to do with packet size and what not. You can probably find them at www.pcworld.com although I don't recommend them for your average user. Always make a backup of your registy before modifing it.

Good luck man. Hope it helps.
