My work schedule will be changing as well. Currently, I have been working the 3am to 1pm shift (which royally sucks), thus explaining my absences from the arena. Starting in September, I will be changing to a 1pm to 9pm shift, which will be more accommodating to my lifestyle.

Nope. Work at a hospital. The medical world never shuts down.

Well it looks like we figured out the connection concerning your handle Mort. I'm guessing you work in the basement with the overly large filing cabinets.

Haven't checked out my profile for the forum, have ya? Have a two-fold job:
1. phlebotomist - I go around from room to room legally playing vampire, stealing people's blood.

2. I'm also a paramedic.

Wouldn't mind getting into the death business, though. My wife wants to go to mortuary school to be a funeral director (she used to work at a funeral home). Morbid little freaks, aren't we?

As far as the Mortis handle, you can take it either of two ways:
1. Short for Rigor Mortis
2. The name of Death's pale horse

Have you read the series by Pierce Anthony called "The Five Incantations of immortality"? I think that's what it's called anyway. The first book is called something like "On a Pale Horse". It's about Death and his or her job that Death has. I never made it to the other 4 books and the first one was very hard to get through the first three chapters but then it grabs you. You have to really let the imagination go as it's a mix of Science, Magic and Religion. I read it when I was 20 or so but it changed my life in a few ways. I highly suggest that if you can make it to the fourth chapter without throwing it away, that you read it with an open mind and you will really enjoy it. The other books are about Time, War, Nature and Destiny. I never ever read so for me to suggest anything to read is at your own risk!

I read another series by Charles Ingrid back then called "The Sand Wars" It had three books I think, the second being called "Laser Town Blues" It's a Sci-Fi about an veteran soldier an old style suit of armor that gets infected with entity that eventually takes over the suit and also becomes part of the soldier, sort of like the black Spiderman suit did. Once the suit gets smart enough to talk and move on around it's own, it gets really good! Another total thumbs up. I read them while I was at Desert Storm back in 91. Later all!

Read the Piers Anthony series (Pale Horse was the best). I'm sure that Sci has read them as well. First one is a definite recommendation.
