I was playing on Bo's server half an hour ago. I can't recall the name of the map, but its one of those castle themed maps with big rooms full of stairways going this way and that, and lots of dark alcoves and tunnels with windows.

While I was guiding down a stairway and into another room, I came across this lime green 2D square moving around, with a white chess pawn drawn on it. I tried blowing it up in case it was a player with a very strange skin, but couldn't. This 2D thing came up the stairs and moved around me, and seemed to be watching me. I ducked around a corner and shot it two more times. No result. Then I noticed that it had a name: Lepoloo.
I went and checked the UT server browser, and refreshed it twice, but no spectators were listed. Then in the next map this Lepoloo person joined the game in a male war machine skin.

But wtf was that lime green thingie with a white chess piece drawn on it!?? Clearly this Lepoloo person was spectating, but was he using a cheat of some kind to let him do that? Or is spectating turned "on" at Bo's? If so why could I see the guy? Does this have something to do with Open GL and the extra texture set? Too weird! :!:

That is odd. I have played Lepoloo before. No cheating or hacking noticed. Odd indeed.

I went on the server, and indeed spectating is on. I spectated a while with two others online, one being Bo. I flew around them several times but they did not seem to notice.

Too weird...seems to me I saw that on another server a while back...that "chess piece" comment jogged my memory. Haven't a clue what causes it. And, yes...I have my server set to allow 2 spectators...has always been like that...

Never had that problem either nameless but I have played lepoloo a few times and he/she seems pretty cool. Don't think he/she is cheating.

Yea i played Him/Her few times to if He/She is cheating then He/She is even bad with cheats like to see the ghost chess piece tho maybe its a fallen member thats haunting nwro :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :roll:

Cool! we need to test this out with just the regulars. Nameless when will you be on next? I want to know if this is what it seems to be with the OpenGL textures etc. Bo, do oy ualoow spectators to talk?

Please excuse me, I wasn't trying to suggest that Lepoloo was cheating during a game. :oops:
I just wondered if he was using a hack to spectate against the servers settings. Now that I know it's turned on, I must speculate that perhaps I was able to see him somehow, and that weird lime green thingie was him floating around, not so invisible to me.

Oh and btw, I think I figured out who/what that strange skaarj fellow in red is who floats around the map while the other players and bots are being loaded, just before a game starts. I was exploring a map in "fly" mode just before the match started, and came across that guy moving around. I waved to him, and he waved back. I just had time to say hello to him before the match started, and he to reply. I think that at least some to the time it's another player having a look around too, although I'm also pretty sure it's just a bot flying around at other times. :|
