Hey Tri,

Go to your input devices in the game settings and turn off Mouse Smoothing. Start then stop a practice session. Close the game out totally and come back in again. Now FPS's will be better. I was at 30 FPS and now around 60. I have a similar system to you. Slamo posted a tweak guide about 20-30 post back for UT2003. I would look at it too. There is a lot to it and I haven't gone that route but I've heard good things.

Hermskii

trigon,

sorry i've not been around to reply for a few days ... if you're running a 2.4 there's no reason to upgrade your cpu -- that should be plenty of processor power. i'd check out the tweak guides i posted in earlier threads. some of these will require going into your ut2003.ini files and making changes there. if you were going to upgrade something on the hardware end, i'd say a vid card (either geforce 4 ti4600 or a radeon 9700 pro), but that's an expensive option for an improvement that will probably not be all that noticeable in-game (esp. online where 50 fps is perfectly playable).

Okay, I admit... I never played this game with the Radeon 9700 Pro. I cranked it up to max at 1280x1024. Wow. It looks a lot better than 800x600! I am impressed!!
Wished it wasn't so Quakelike ;)
The Jargonaut

jarg,

i've not played it on radeon either. but i've seen screen shots of radeon cards with their "truform" stuff turned on. AMAZING! all the blocky parts are smoothed out -- even on the character skins. simply wonderful to see.

i have a geforce 4ti 4600 with 128 mb and it does a sweet job at keeping my frames per second between 80-100 at 1024x768, which is perfect for me.

I played in Curse 3, and I was just floored! <CLUNK> That was my jaw, excuse me while I pick it up. It is amazing to see. I will give it another chance but I know I will be an easy frag cause I just wanna stop and look at the eye candy.
The Jargonaut
