Welp this weekend has pretty much been a washout for me. Saturday evening I went out with every intention of picking up a new HD for the old system but there was an object that I use on a daily basis that pretty much had it in for me........my car. Got over in a heavy traffic section right over by the Best Buy and Circuit City here and had a few cars that were going little slow for my taste so I took it upon myself to get around them. Drop a 3rd gear down to 2nd and give her about half throttle and made it around the set of cars no problem.....or so I thought. As soon as I get around them I get out of the gas and go to shift back into 3rd and all the sudden my RPM's are running up to 4-5K.....WTF!?!?! Figuring it had to be my peddle stuck I tried to wedge my foot under it and see if I could pull it back up alittle but this was to no avail. Yank into a parking lot and cut the engine and let it sit for a few minutes. While that was doing I got out and checked the cable going to the throttle body and also the peddle in the car. Everything seemed to be in working order......strange. Being freaked out alittle I decided to restart the car and see if it was gonna be nice enuff to let me drive it home and shocking enuff it drove fine. Got up Sunday when i could actually see and rechecked everything out and everything seemed fine.......or so I thought. Sunday afternoon I get back into the car and attempt to go back out to pick up the HD again. Well this trip didnt get very far. Get about 3 miles from the house and go to pass a car with very moderate throttle and the SOB peddle goes to floor by itself and off I go to about 70 mph on a 50 mph road. Knock the car out of gear and the motor revs straight to 6+K rpm so I killed the key so I would not blow the motor. Trying to stop the car from 70 was a pain because the brakes hardly worked and the parking brake was of very little help. Cussed and kicked the car and few times and was able to get the peddle to reset. Basically for safety I turned it back around and was able to make it home. It somehow got me to work today and this evening I gonna get a friend that is a Dodge tech to check it out and see what the problem is.

So there is my lovely weekend needless to say So the redirect is kinda on the back burner till I get some other things straight first. Sorry if I seem wishy washy as of late but you see how my luck has been running. If it wasn't for bad luck I guess I would not have any.

Dude that sux and was scary. At least you and everyone else is OK. Don't die in a Dodge no matter what. Get rid of it. What was it exactly? Dodge truck? What year and all of that stuff? Let me know. Glad you are alright. Sorry about the Dodge. Later!

The car is a 03' Dodge SRT-4 (basically a bonified Neon with a turbo and different styling cues to set it apart from the others). The car has actually been a wonderful car for the most part and have had very few issues out of it since the day I picked it up brand new.

Got the car up to the dealership and got my friend to take a look at it. I was back in the shop area when he started looking in the engine bay around the throttle body and hidden behind a bracket that I could not see on Sunday the cable to the throttle body itself had somehow frayed all the way down to the point where the only thing operating the throttle body itself was one strain out of a 10 strain cable. So basically the cable was sticking due the the fray part being pulled up into the plastic jacket that protects the rest of the cable when the throttle would be pushed to a point. Another couple of days and that last cable would have snapped.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO now that I got one problem out of the way its time to tackle the other stuff. Thanks for the support guys/gals as always. I will keep everybody posted as I get my computer stuff back up and running.

This just makes me wonder how many of these NEONs this has happened to that we haven't heard about. Are you going to investigate Dodge more? I would take this to a local paper and get them digging. I bet money that this is happening to others. In fact, I've heard of it happening with Lexus and Honda before. I see it on the news where the driver says the car just lauched by itself into a building or into a shop or over someone. Call it in. Get results. Glad you are OK mostly.

Good question about the NEONs and throttle cables. My tech buddy that found the problem said he had never seen anything like that before on any car he has ever worked on period and he has seen his fair share of NEONs due to working for Dodge. Asked a few other friends that drive them too and nobody here has ever seen that sort of problem before. Guess I just got the fluke of nature on this one.

Well as of Saturday morning around 3 a.m. the game box is back up and running (finally was able to go get a new hard drive). Man I hate having to go back and install all the darn drivers and stuff you take for granted with a year and a half old install. The only thing game wise I've got back on is UT99 and it seems to be running great.

Found something rather odd tho. My webspace is still there and redirects are still working even tho I thought on April 14 it was gonna be brought down. I've yanked the files back off the redirect and am gonna go on and set up the other redirect just to be on the safe side. So for now everything is back to normal. Let me know if you notice anything slow, odd, laggy or whatever the case may be with when it comes to the server.

Yeah I'm definately sure it wasn't her. We might not be together anymore but we actually get along better now than we ever did. Plus I don't think she wants to explain to our 6 year old that mommy put daddy 6 ft under.

Hmmm server not showing ya say? Haven't checked on it in a few days but it was up last time I had checked it. I'm stuck at work right now but when I get home this evening I will take a look. More than likely it crashed over the past few days and I just wasn't aware. Thanks for the heads up and I'll take a look.
