Well, I have installed Fedora Core on the computer. As I suspected, the wireless card did not work. Also, even though the Radeon is supported, I can not raise my resolution to my prefered setting. I have not given up hope as of yet, but the wireless card is a deal breaker. IF I can not find a way to get it up and running, then I will be forced to revert the PC back to Windows.
On a brighter note, I like Fedora Core. It comes with a lot of software that is both useful and intuitive. I think that Knoppix and Mepis look better, and are more functional though.
Could a distro that can be booted from a CD really offer that many advantages?

Well... After having a computer that was not able to connect to the internet, I just gave up on the idea of Linux...
Do not get me wrong, if you have a PC that is hardwired to the internet and is used for nothing more than a typical PC, then Linux is an interesting and FREE alternative. I liked how I could make the windows transparent and the MULTITUDE of useful programs that came with it. I just did not have the correct drivers for my wireless card and for my TV tuner card.
These are the backbone of this PC. It is my bedroom television as well as my internet in bed. Without those features, it was no question as to the direction that I should go.
Windows is re-installed and it is working fine. Shame though. I really wanted to say that I had succeeded in this.

Hey man. You did succeed. At least you had the balls to go up against MS and you did get the OS installed. You might hit the forums and say what you did and say what didn't work. Maybe somebody will point you to a solution that can meet your needs and then you can break your nasty Microsoft habbit. Just a thought. Me, I love MS but only because I move through it like the wind.
