I have posted this on another forum and have already gotten some feedback. I'm trying to have a map made that can replace that crappy one room map that people are always asking me to put back on. The one that is nothing more than a square with a column in it. This is what I have asked for:

Here is my situation: I run a server that runs a "Redeemer Arena Mod". This server has about 30,000 to 50,000 games hosted a year. You would not think there is strategy to this type of mod but you'd be very wrong. Camping counts here as does everything else. If you have never tried it and think you're good enough, I suggest you show up and see how fast you end up at the bottom of the score card! The location is listed under DeathMatch Servers and is named "Curious George's Redeemer Insanity"

That said, I'm looking to have a map made. My server cycles a few hundred maps BUT I have had a request to put back on a map I removed about a year ago. The map was nothing more than a giant wrectangle but it had a couple of columns in it. That alone ruined it for me. The textures were awful too and it was just too small.

My goal with this map request is to have a map that is completely balanced meaning it has equal sized walls with equal distance between the respawn points and just all around an even layout with no sweet spot to be had by anyone. I'd like for 10 players to be able to start the game at the time and have none of them have any type of advantage at all by being in a camper spot, or already behind the safety of a wall etc etc.

I'm hopeful that someone here will make me a map following these specifications:

1. I want to be able to rename it to anything I want if it doesn't meet the requirments specified here-after. If you are smart enough for it to say that you made it, then that is what it will say when players hit F1 provided the name isn't vulgar in any way and is 13 characters or shorter.

2. Do the math! I need this map to have 16 evenly spaced out respawn points. I need each respawn point to be at least 2 X the default redeemer blast radius away from each other and but not too much further. I need the respawn points closest to the walls to be 1.5 X the detonation radius of a Deemer away from the walls so that if a player were to respawn near a wall and a Deemer hit the wall right behind them at the exact same time, the player would not be killed by the Deemers explosion. (It's getting a little tricky huh?)

3. I need this map to be a square, (4 even length sides), with nothing in the square visually except the respawning players AND I need the sides of the square to be far enough away from respawn points that the blast radius from a default Redeemer detonation on the wall will be be too far away from the player to frag them. That needs to also be true as far as the dead center of the map goes. (Did that make sense?)

4. I need the height of this square map to be exactly 3X higher than the maximum height of a default total radius of a Redeemer detonation.

5. I need the walls to appear like a standard red brick ;ike on a house and the ground should be made of medium light colored wood planks or some light grayish stone pattern. The sky should look like the sky as in the default desktop of Windows 98 with the clouds and all of that. My point being that lighting should not be an issue at all of the contest will be under a open roof square dome of sorts during the day minus an obvious sun.

The mod I have will provide the Deemers. No pick ups are needed at all. No weapons, no health.

OK, That's all I can think of right now. Submit or ask questions to Hermskii at Hermskii@Hermskii. com . Thank you all!

That is it! This should be a short excercise yet challenging in the math aspect by just a little bit for an experienced mapper.

I will ask for changes after I see my errors in this request but until then, this is what I'm asking for. The mapper who gets it done first per these specs wins though this is not a contest.

Don't stop at one map...add a few. You can always delete later.

Done. A girl nic named Kort sent me a map last night and then I made some suggestions and she has sent me another version today. I'm sure it will work fine so we will see on Sunday as I have plans today that keep me busy. Later!

Kort nailed it on her second try. It is on CG at this time and is called DM-DeemerBox. It is the perfect name too. It is simply a large box. Exactly what I asked for. Thanks Kort and I'm proud to have my name on it too.

Part of my goal with this map was to make a map that gave no real advantage to any player to see if the same player usually wins. It is hard with just a few players and takes a long time but with a full house, it should prove to be insane. I think the design meets with the specs as far as no player having an advantage. Let me know what you think and let me say I expect many of you to hate it at first but I expect it to be a favorite soon. We'll see. Later!

I tried it with 6 other players and my UT had 7 crashes in a row and finally a frozen PC crash.
All along the game there were less and less players : I imagine they had the same problem...
To be revisited...

I noticed people dropping out too. I figured they were leaving from losing and bailing before the final scoreboard came up. I'll look into it. Thanks for the heads up.
