My first (Bo's NWRO) deemer server down has been a great pain to me too Pabcak !!! Kid's now makes me feel the same once again. That's the reason why I've suggested Tommy (admin in DOU servers) to start one and Tommy is right when he says that more demeer servers bring more new players to come and try. Addiction does the rest !
Hope Bo will run again in the next weeks or months. It will be warm in my player's heart !

We kind of got off track with the issue here. Why can't another Redeemer site or Kid Capri exist along side CG? For me it was the variety or bigger selection of maps CG had over Kid....(better maps or maps that I liked more). And also, half the time I wanted to play at Kid Capri it was down. But when it is all said and done both sites were pretty much the same. It's kind of like all the other empty sites you see out there that no one plays. Hard to say why it didn't make it?
Maybe having a forum or message board like this made it seem that CG was better, more professional or more personal for some reason?
The only reason why I would go to another redeemer site is if they offered different maps or a variety of different ways to score or play the redeemer. I bet if we put our heads together we could come up with some ideas for a new site or even ideas to make CG better....if we want to change?

There were many different maps on Kid's and it was cool to have that choice (Kid or CG) and there were times when Kid had much more people than CG so I agree with one thing, there is room for several servers.
It's been up to 5 redeemer server at the same time :
NWRO
CG
Kid
Jarg's
and another which had no redirects I thinik. Named Redeemer's quality

There were many people playing at the same time too !!

Actually I can find nice crowds here and there... Hope it will increase to have full house on CG and DOU !!!... is it only a dream ?

There is always room for one more server but is there enough people out their wanting to play? At most I've seen 9 or 10 at CG playing at one time. Maybe there should be a lower limit to how many people can play at one time? Personally I think if you get more then four people on a map it does get a little crowded. That way a second server would be needed and could exist. Especially a server with maps different from CG.

Yea the deemer days at NWRO and SRA and Kid's were great ! But me thinks (quote) hehe .... that UT99's days are very limited ....sad but true folks , lets face it , the game's kinda long in the tooth ( 6 years in '06!) compared to the newer games that are out these days. I made the switch to ut2k4 until UT2k7 makes it out I've taken UT99 off my computer, i've retired it permantly ....my .02 ,it's time to move on to newer games lets get the redeemer stuff up to date or let it go , even Herm knows that the days gonna come that UT99 will be ancient and a relic. I think that that day is right around the corner..

PS..... http://www.getutr.com .......this is coming and it'll be the UT that we've waited and wanted !

I have UT2k4 in my PC but I have a problem with that program : it's too much beautiful !!!
I mean the view has much more details and reality that I don't really need and that bring a "pollution" in what we see !!! Especially the redeemer : you can't see anything with that "powdered" camera !
I never could take the same pleasure with that new resolution and sharpness of 2K4. This is my opinion (and some of my friends think so) but if UT2K4 wasn't so confuse (for my eyes) it could be great !
Let's see that coming UTR but I'm afraid I won't like it as my eyes love UT99 !!!! :)

I agree that the game is looking old, but there are still a lot of players out there from around the world who don't have a computer that's up to running UT2k4. I'm unwilling to give up certain cyber-friendships; so as long as UT 99 is around, I'll be happy to play there. ;) :)

Thanks for the link Iron Chef. Nice Find! If this group of developers can build a version of the game that gives the best of both worlds, I'll be very happy, as I've always had some issues with changes that were made to the game in 2k4.

Hey Lepoloo have you tried Dead_Sun's server Missile Madness yet? It's not redeemer arena, but I've gotten fairly addicted to riding those UT2k4 strangeloves around. :drunken:
I love the map VCTF-Valarna, because it is so very large, and beautiful to look at as I fly about. :bom:

And speaking of redeemer arena, is there any way that we can talk Bigi into putting up his server again? As I recall he had solved most of the problems with the new redeemer. The main problem was the lack of good maps. Things have certainly moved on in that regard. Last week I found this website that has some good map packs on it: The Ultimate Community MapPack web page. Click on UCMP1 and UCMP2 (beside the word "downloads" at the top of the page) to go straight to their map packs. Their forum is on this page.

I haven't had a chance to look at all of the maps yet, but they seem to be well made. With all the maps that are out there now, UT2k4 redeemer arena may yet have a chance to flourish. :cyclopsani: :faroah:

I agree !!!!!!!!!!!! The good feeling I have turns around that "Cyber-friendship" !!! Good expression Nameless !

Otherwise : no I didn't try any strangelove as I don't know how to play with those planes !!!
And I could add that one of the things I love in Deemer playing is only one weapon plus the teleport ! (same in sniper games : only one rifle)
I'm not really interested in multi weapons like the classical UT ! (don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's not interesting !) ;)

UT99 is going to suck fumes one of these days, might as well get on the road now ..........

I agree, change is going to happen. Whether we like it or not. But some of us will stay because we are comfortable playing here. It took us weeks, even months to better ourselves at this game and some of us just don't want to start over. And who says change will be better?
Here is an idea.......the only way to make the change easier is for you to download copies for all of us so we can go together...lol I bet a lot of us would pay for the CD and the shipping. Better then spending $50 to make the change.

Youi are all WRONG! UT will be here forever. Stop talking all of this nonsense or I'll send you to your rooms!

Actually, the main thing to maintain these friendships isn't the game. It is actually this forum. We can all decide on the next game to own and play from here. This fear factor of being disconnected started with me when Schwantz first mentioned shutting down his SRA server and closing down his original forum. I knew then that I wanted to have a back up to as much of the world that he had created as possible. Server: done. Forum: done. I have been at ease now a long time.

UT2k4 is/was pretty inexpensive, I payed like 20 bucks for it . Also you gonna pay to get me outa jail if Atari finds out that I'm copying the game ?? Change is not easy , but you've not been around here and been thru as much as we have together , we've talked about this before on here , and with 2k7 coming I just wanted to see what the regulars, that is the folks that have been here for a while are thinking about the state of Unrealtournament to come, we've tried to adapt to the change and not really gotten anywhere as far as the redeemer mod, does this mean that we're done ?? Or can the mod live on in future releases of UT ?? That is that question that I guess I want to know the answer to...... Clem??? Bigi??

All I know for sure is that four thirds of kids in todays schools have trouble with fractions and I'm concerned about it.

I also think that cigarettes don't cause lung cancer but rather the chemicals that light up at the end of a match when you strike it does.

Which brings me to the sad fact that 1/7 of the rest of your life will be Mondays.

OK I'm done. Damn cold medication freaks me out. Sorry.

lol Herm. Yeah, I remember the end of Schwantz's. It was frickin hilarious. In what other game (other than a clan-served meeting) could 12-16 people log on and take pictures! Remember the Fatz guys from Germany? They all logged on, and we all stood side by side (some squatted), and then one of us went and snapped a screen shot! LMAO. And then, in one of the final games on DM SPACENOX, everyone gathered on the top platform and began firing missiles up into the air!!! It was so funny! Then I im'ed Elton John's "Rocket Man" over to Torp and Hottie.

So what's the point? Oh yeah -- thanks Herm for keeping the party going!

I stopped for months and months because the pregnancy and child, but I was stoked to come back to it in recent weeks. I've even seen GERMANIAFATZ playing the last week! I "met" him almost 6 frickin years ago!

Sure, the change will come, but the reason we keep playing UT99 is because the game, especially the dated video rendering, is funny!!! The screams are totally over the top. The voices and shouts are overdramatic. Add to that the incessant explosions, and you've got a game that is so unlike any other one that it's actually still attracting new regulars.
