Mortis

I'm truely sorry to hear of your loss. This must be a bad week!!!
I'm in FL. right now, I had to fly down in a hurry last monday after hearing that my mother had been admited to hospice ( she's been fighting cancer for that last 4 years ). She passed on Wed. morning at 5:00 AM. Fortunatly my brother and I were able to get down here just hours before she slipped into a coma.

Keep the faith !

Mickey:

My brother drove up here from Florida for pretty much the same (small world, huh?).

My thoughts are with you as well. The people at Hospice are wonderful. The ones here were only CNAs (with an RN on call), so I taught them a couple of useful things. Anyway, the job they do is a great help, not only to the resident, but to the family as well. They will be receiving my support in the future.

My hand's on your back for support. Hope you can feel it.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. It will take a while, but I will get through this in one piece.

Thank You everyone for your thoughts & prayers!

Like Mortis, I've had to put the emotions on the back burner for now while brother and I are settleing the estate. If the event isn't hard enough, the whole act of disassembleing mom's life down here in FL. is really tough. Sorting through everything in the house. Old memories in photographs and letters. At this point I'm looking forward to getting back home to the wife and "letting the wall down". Think I could use a good 2 day cry at this point.

Mortis, like yourself, I can't say enough good things about the folks that were takeing care of mom in hospice. The way they handled not just mom but also the rest of the family that where there far exceded what I was expecting. They really "bent over backwards for us and to make sure that we had anything we needed while there. They really made things much easier to cope with.

Again, Thank you everyone!

Hiya Mickey...sorry to hear about your mother. My ex's mom passed away a couple of months ago. It was kinda hard to get my youngest boy to understand that she wasn't coming back. Yeah, it takes time for it to sink in sometimes.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Mickey. I'm familiar with what you're going through.

I remember when I was only 4 years old, my mothers' uncle passed away and we cremated him. At first I couldn't understand so I asked my mom, "Why did you burn Uncle Taro into ashes?".

She looked at me funny at what I had just said, then she told me "It's because he was already dead."

After hearing that from my mom, I said "Oh, ok."

I guess in one way, Xerxes, sometimes it takes a while for a young child to understand death, other times it can be right away.

Guys my thoughts and prayers are with both of ya.

I've been without my father since about 94 and it's definately hard sometimes when I stop and think about it. I'm sure my life would have been a bit different if he was around and he is definately missed. His death seemed to start a chain reaction in my family and realitives started passing away left and right. In a 3 year period after his death I had 3 realitives pass on.

Sorry to hear about both of y'all losing loved ones and hope everything is going ok with you guys. As many have said before if you need to talk there are plenty of people around here that are glad to help in any way they can including myself.

Sorry to hear the news Mort and Mick. Glad to hear how well you understand your own grief. Hospice people have a very tough job.

Lost my pop when I was fifteen -- watched him take his last breath. Took me nineteen years to finally revisit the episode and grieve.

Hang in there guys.

Mah

Hey Mortis,
I wish you all the best, I know you are grieving so deeply and there is a void in your life. Remember your dad was a strong man and his wish for you would be to be strong.
Remember the good times you had together.
Bless you

Mick,
Sorry to hear of your mother. My mother passed in 1997 from a sudden heart attack, I still miss her every day.
God bless you.
