Here is something interesting and perhaps enlightening, or maybe even frightening. I was surprised by what this article says about Western Muslim young people. But it does seem to underline the need for moderate Muslims to stop being so passive and speak out against violence, at long last.

That statement is pretty damn straightforward. You can place just about anything before or after that statement anbd it would still be insulting to anyone with half a brain.

As for the Iraq war I don't think there is anyone who thought that defeating Iraq was going to end terrorism. I really don't give a shit that they didn't find WMD either. A tyrant was removed from power and that's good enough for me. Perhaps if the rest of the world had backed us then we wouldn't have the mess that we have now. These scumbags read the paper and watch the news. They see the Western media claiming it's a quagmire and so they continue doing what they are doing. Meanwhile AlJazeera continues to give it's lopsided view of events in Iraq and Afganistan as well. Firing up the muslim world against the great Satan.

Enlighten me on how the US should go about stopping this Non-threat. Apparently the Liberals have all the answers but for some reason keep their cards really close to their chests.

Oh yeah and here we go again.

Interesting that they point to Bosnia as the reason for the increase in Militant muslims. The Muslims are slaughtering Christians in Sudan but ya don't see Christians running around with bombs strapped to their backs screaming "God is good! God is great!".

By the way wasn't it mostly Western forces under the UN banner that came to the aid of the muslims in Bosnia?

The installations the Americans should have bombed were the Aljazzera offices and transmitters, -if diplomacy with the host country had failed. A good use for a few cruise missiles.

Invading Iraq was a bone headed Bush administration idea, and I'm still wondering how the hell he talked the UK into joining him. What were they promised? I still think Mr. Moore had at least some of it right when he pointed out the people and the oil interests Bush was and is associated with, and how it all comes together in Iraq.

As for the young Muslim people, I'm still trying to work out the thought process they're following to end up being so radicallized. The rest of the moderate Muslims must follow the lead of the Mullahs in the UK who issued a Fatweh against terrorism. Here in Canada all the Mullahs would do is speak out against violence. If the moderates don't want their religion to fall any lower in world esteem, they'd better get their asses in gear. And soon.

If it's about Oil why didn't we snatch it back in 91. I get a laugh at all the folks that bring up the oil thing. You don't see too many of them riding bikes to work. I think that's called Hypocrisy. And let's not forget the real reason why France, Germany & Russia didn't get involved. They were all owed big cash for all the military hardware they had sold Saddam over the years (this includes the sanction years folks) as well has having lucrative OIL deals with him.

I think Mr.Blair remembers who stood side by side with the UK against the Nazi's. Apparently the French don't Remember.

I'll reiterate my question. What should the U.S. have done after the Taliban? Was that enough?

1991 was when Iraq should have been occupied. The timing, the circumstances, etc. were perfect. The UN let Bush Sr. down badly when they didn't support his bid to occupy all of Iraq.

Now instead the US is stuck in a quagmire for years and years. And at a time when its national debt was so large before the occupation that it was problematic if it could ever have been paid off. Now it gets worse day by day.
As far as the oil argument goes, it seems evident that oil has always been part of the equation, but not the whole thing, as some would simplistically like to make it appear.

I reiterate that Bush Jr.'s decision to occupy Iraq was a bone headed idea. The timing was all wrong, the US is stuck there for years, the price is exorbitant, and instead of barrels of oil, it is coffins that are being shipped home at a great rate.

I hope nobody takes it the wrong way when I say "It's been one big f*ck up after another with this problem". If someone screws up the first time and don't accept the responsibility for at least helping correct things, there will be consequences later on, and they may be worse than one might think.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That's what makes free societies great. I would still like to know what you think the US should have done after the Taliban fell. Or maybe even after 9/11. It's easy to be an arm chair general and point fingers. If ya think that it was wrong to go into Iraq then what should the US have done after Afganistan.

That's kind of lacking in details.

So going into Iran and bitch slapping them would be OK. Or perhaps Syria, or Libya. How about Saudi Arabia. Regardless of which Muslim nation we go into this kinda BS is what were going to get. There is no way around it. We're being way to soft on these folks. How do you think Saddam stayed in power so long. He was brutal. Be heavy handed to start off with, give the country over to their own people and the people will love it because in comparrison to the occupiers the new gov't would look like saints. They can't stand us nor do they trust us anyway so give him what they are expecting.

We (this includes our allies and not just the US) didn't go easy on the Germans and Japanese in WWII and look how those countries turned out. We carpet bombed and nuked the crap out of them. Civilian casualties were through the roof. You didn't hear anyone whining about American decency then. Now we have the power to put a rocket right through an open window and keep losses to a minimum and we're derided for it.

If by 'everything else' you mean sit down and open up a dialogue with these people then Militant islam and the murderers who follow it have already won. I agree that America needs to change it's ways but remember that in this country there are no death camps (Iraq), we don't indiscriminatley attack our neighbors (Iraq) and we aren't calling for a holy war against Islam or using public schools to twist religion in order to brainwash our children (Afganistan, Iran, Syria, Saudia Arabia & Pakistan).

This is my beef with half of my fellow Americans and most of the world. People like to point fingers and say 'hey your going about this all wrong' but no one offers a solution.

P.s. Nice post Skank

Wow. Stunning in it's simplicity. So basically everthing else except the killing part is what your saying. Perhaps we should get the U.N. involved and place "SANCTIONS" on the countries that harbor terrorists. We all know how well that works.
