SRA2 Schwantz's UT2K3 Server Up and Running!!!!!

Well... Now that I have shut down my MS Small Business Server, I loaded Win2K on the machine and it is now a UT2K3 Server. I've loaded mapVote 4.07 beta (for UT2K3 only) as well . you can download <a href="http://schwantz.50megs.com/files/UT2003/mapvote400b7.zip" target="top">here</a> . Seems to be working well and thanx to some prodding from Hermskii, I actually got off my ass and figured out how to do the fast download thing. It seems to work well and would appreciate some feedback. You can email the schwantz <a href="mailto:schwantz@telus.net"> schwantz@telus.net</a> . The ip address is currently 207.6.2.184 . Enjoy! one suggestion: when i stopped by there was no one else there -- and no bots either ... kinda hard to play DM when there's only myself to frag ;-) otherwise it seemed fine ... ping weren't too bad (150 or so) and it ran smooth, but 2k3 is 'roughest' when there people join/part from a game... now if we can just get someone to write a simple RA mod for 2k3. ....

Please note, there is a serious bug when running the UT2K3 dedicated server. The ping on the various game browsers show the ping as n/a or 9999. They are away of this bug and hope to fix it in the next dedicated server patch. Connect directly to the servers ip.. 207.6.2.184 Let me know if you have any problems. yeah alot of ut2k3 servers come up as NA in the server browser ... kind of annoying -- just hope they fix it in the NEXT patch ... schwantz, it'll be nice to frag you sometime too maybe <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"> or be fragged -- i'm easy... Saladshooter/salmo/carless or whatever comes to mind (usually "hey asshole" will get my attention just fine) ...

i tried joining earlier today -- was stuck on map Gestalt1 or something like that -- and got the "server refused to send" the file message <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/frown.gif ALT=":("> and btw, i think i'm gonna post a request for someone to write a "redeemer arena" mutator on some of the top ut2k3 boards ... it's gotta be a cinch to write ... so just gotta find someone to take the few minutes to do it ... heck i'd do it if i knew even the FIRST thing about mutators and how they work.

I've turned on the regular server downloads..seems it's not working at all except if you've inside my firewall.. in other words..it works fine for me!! That's real helpful...LOL.. Salmo: I've currently set the redirects to a common site.. could you try to connect and see if the compressed download works..?? The reason mine isn't working is because .50megs.com doesn't support the .uz or .uz2 mime extension. I've sent them a note asking them to make that available... I was reading on the unrealadmin site that they will a beta fix for the dedicated server out soon that gets rid of the n/a ping problem. redeemer arena for 2k3 is here !! Unlimited ammo, no power ups, no weapons, just 'deemers. now, how soon will Schwantz have that on his server! let the 2k3 frags begin?? *claps hands with glee*

one thing i forgot to mention for those of you who haven't played 2k3 much ... there is native spawn-killing protection in 2k3 ... for 2 seconds after a spawn, you cannot be killed -- any shot or damage that would kill/hurt you during those two seconds just bounces you away. i've heard that you can disable this, but i'm not sure how. in any case, it would be interesting to see how those 2 seconds of invincibility might change things for redeemer arena.

oh and schwantz, i've tried connecting again ... and it just hangs at the initial connect screen. just black except for unreal://206.6.2.184/Index.ut2 did the ip change? .... or is it just hanging up somehow?

it's 207.6.2.184 not 206 I installed the redeemer mod but only the bots got the redeemers.. I couldn't pick one up or didn't get one when I joined the game.. I'll leave it running so you can see for yourself.. Schwantz
