Sorry Scify. I'm not touching this one with a 10 ft pole. There is no reason for it to be locking up your PC in the first place. If I were you:

1. I would uninstall Norton Firewall and never ever use it again. The only thing good about Norton's is their Virus Scan and Ghost.

2. I would uninstall Yahoo totally.

3. I would use nothing but a new LinkSys router for a firewall.

4. I would then reinstall Sun Java.

5. I would then reinstall Yahoo.

I bet it would work fine after all of that. Darn, so it looks like I did touch it after all.

Herm i have unstall firewall & reboot, unstall yahoo messaenage
then reinsatll and still freeze.I though it wae headset reset speakers & i have mic. that did't work.
I try this
Quote:
Sun java voice problems

If you are trying to use Chat 2 or java chat
and have sun java installed you may not be able to get voice.
Check you have msjava voice also or download and install it if you
dont. Then Open internet explorer and click Tools, Internet Options
and Advanced and put a check in Jit compiler and take out the one
in Sun java.

I been try this Remove & reinstall the yahoo voice applet but it not list
in Internet options under the genral tab
Quote:
Remove & reinstall the yahoo voice applet.

Sometimes the voice chat applet may become corrupt or simply outdated as yahoo
makes changes. You can replace the applet easily by opening Internet Explorer .
clicking Tools, Internet options and . Now select the Settings button and then View object.
The page that opens lists all your
installed applets. Select the Yahoo audio applet and deltete it and click ok.

Now the next time you go into Yahoo chat via your browser the applet will reinstal and be up to date.

Maybe this is miss?

other rhing yahoo say this too
Quote:
You may be able to correct this problem by installing the latest
version of the sound driver for your operating system (OS). We
cannot provide this for you. You can either find this driver directly
from your sound card manufacturer or from your computer's
manufacturer.
