I got the itch last night to finally figure out how to make a web page with the Q3 Plugin.

I added all of our servers that were up and some that I like to play on.

http://users.adelphia.net/~armstrongba0 ... rList.html

If you don't have the q3 pluggin, you can get it by clicking the empty frame on my site. You will be redirected to the zip file stored on my site.

The readme file has installation instructions, but I put them here as well for easy reference.

Installation:
-------------

Note: Some browsers must be restarted after installation. If plugins directory does not exist, create it.

Netscape Navigator:
- copy "NPQ3PLUG.DLL" into Netscape\Communicator\Program\Plugins directory

Mozilla:
- copy "NPQ3PLUG.DLL" into Mozilla.org\Mozilla\Plugins directory

Microsoft Internet Explorer < IE 5.0/5.5 SP2:
-copy "NPQ3PLUG.DLL" into Internet Explorer\Plugins

Microsoft Internet Explorer >= IE 5.0/5.5 SP2:
-copy "NPQ3PLUG.DLL" into Internet Explorer\Plugins
-open the file "q3plug_fix_IE55SP2_IE6.reg" (located inside the zip file) and click yes at the prompt asking for permission to
modify the registry

if you do not have this file, get it at http://members.liwest.at/mb/q3plug/q3pl ... P2_IE6.reg

Opera Software Opera:
- copy "NPQ3PLUG.DLL" into Opera\Plugins

I found that I had to run the registry part before I was able to enable the click to be redirected part. Then I got a "Forbidden error at the screen where I would have been able to download the .dll from your site.

Question for once I get past this section: Will this also allow the player to join just by selecting one of these? I've seen DeadSun and Mickey I believe too use this before. Let us know. Thanks!

OK, I was just able to download the plug. Hmmm? Wierd it said no a second ago...

Ok, It works but in doing so, it nukes the standard buttons and the address bar and google bar from = or >IE 6. If I can't figure out how to restore these into the view, I will have to remove the QPlug as I will want to use thease features more than the QPlug utility. Scify is right. This is the first time I've been able to make this work on XP for me too. Now to just get it to work right!

OK, I figured that out but I bet most won't. All is good.

If you don't get redirected, the pluggin is here.
http://users.adelphia.net/~armstrongba001/npq3plug.zip

I didn't have any problems with the plugin on IE 6 and Mozilla 6.0 and firebird. All on win 2k machines.

I don't know what problems you might encoutner on xp.

edit: good find scify

I have done some reading and it seems that one of the security patches for IE in XP prevents the Q3Plugin from display by disabling Active X in registry due to "Securtiy Flaws"

For More info Click Here:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php? ... m_id=64016

The following instructions appeared to work for everyone who had the problem, but it will re-open a security flaw in IE....(I am sure it ain't the only one.) I suggest downloading Mozilla Firefox...I have been using the trial versions for over a year now, and just upgraded to the Final version. Well, I can say thats 1 year virus free for me.

You can try the following procedure if the reg fix doesn't work for you:

Open regedit.exe and go to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{06DD38D3-D187-11CF-A80D-00C04FD74AD8}

The make sure the value "Compatibility Flags" has a (DWORD) value of 0.

This should enable the plug-in again. If not, please post here. I am not exactly sure about possible other causes of this problem.
