Hey ,seems like a while back someone asked herm or somebody :?:
about how to decompress a compressed .uz file , the reason I'm asking is i downloaded a map and there was a texture file missing for it -"dino081199" soi I googled for it and found what i though was it .
It turned to be a compressed .uz file and I need to see if I can find a way to use it if possible....... oh, this is a UT2K4 file by the way .

thanks ,

Do you know how to use the ucc compress command? Make a folder in your unrealtournament folder called UZ. Put your file that has the uz extension in it. Close everything. Go to Start, run, and type command. At the command window type (cd..) without the parenthesis and hit enter. Do that 2 or three times untill your prompt says (c:\>) without the parenthesis. type (cd path\to\your unrealtournament\system\folder) without the parenthesis. Now type this exactly like this and then after it is done, go to your uz folder and there will now be the uncompressed version of your file with the original. Type this:

ucc decompress ..\uz\dm-filename.file extension.uz

So, for me to decompress a compressed texture called TestTexture.utx.uz, I would type the following at my c prompt so that the entire line would look exactly like this:

C:\UZ\SYSTEM\UCC DECOMPRESS ..\UZ\TESTTEXTURE.UTX.UZ

YOURS SHOULD LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

C:\UZ\SYSTEM\UCC DECOMPRESS ..\UZ\EntireFileName.umx.uz

Note in this example, we would have just decompressed a music file being that it had the UMX file extension. Maps are UNR. Textures are UTX etc etc.

You will see it go through about 4 stages and then tell you it finished in a matter of seconds. Some big files take longer.

Good luck and tell us how you did! If I had to guess, the biggest problem you will have is getting the command prompt to see your UT folder. If it fails, just send compressed file to me. I will decompress it and send it back.
