Why is it that You can buy 9600 Pro cards and 9800 Pro cards but there aren't any 9700 Pro around? Please don't tell me the 9600 Pro is better than the 9700 Pro. I'd be all confused and would never get an ATI card then.

The 9700 isn't part of the new line of ATI cards, just the 9200, 9600,and the 9800 series of cards are all the newest ones . The 9700 's are still an awesome card though, thats why there aren't any used ones to be had .......folks like Jarg ,Nameless and Death Inc , are all still very well served by them. I kinda wished I had bought the 9700 for a greatly reduced price instead of the astronomical $400.00 I spent on the 9800 card  oohh well........... live and learn

Chef is right. I still have the 9700 Pro in my main computer. I also have a 9600 Pro AIW in my media computer. The 9600 is Almost as good, but I believe that it only has 4 pixel pipelines compaired to the 9700s 8.
Pricewatch.com has several vendors for this card. I can not recomend this card highly enough. It still runs my games at amazing speeds.
Of course, I am one day going to get the X800, but that is down the road a bit. I have promised the 9700 to a friend when I do switch.

Not to be a stick in the mud, BUT, isn't all 3 versions of UT designed to get best performance with AMD processors and nVidia ( GeForce ) graphics? That's what made me buy the game in the first place since I was running AMD Athlon processors and GeForce 3 graphics on all 4 of my systems.

Hey chef,

whenever I look at your avatar, I think you are one of those Russian nuclear scientists. Are you sure that you are not working on "Uranium Yellow Cake" instead of pound cake ?

Here is a GREAT price on a 9800 pro. It is faster than the 9700.

The 9800 pro replaced the 9700 pro...Same card basically but still ATIs top performing card. 9600 is a mid-priced card and thats why its still around.
