Well I've used Umods very successfully with UT99. I assume that if the file had unzipped properly, I would have seen a UT2k4 shaped icon to click on to start the autoinstall? The icon I got did not look like that at all. :-x

The thing is, when I installed WinRAR, it took over everything. All my file associations, everything. It totally got rid of the Winzip I had that came with Windoze XP. I did not have any choice in this. The install never asked me what I wanted. I activated the installer, and it went ahead and did all this shit automatically. I am very unimpressed with that. I like to be asked if I want all my file associations irreversibly changed.
Now I wonder wtf will happen after my forty day "evalutation period" is over, and also just how complete an uninstall would be if I tried to get rid of WinRAR. And will I get my default Winzip back if I uninstall WinRAR? Or is it gone forever? :?

Maybe I'll get to see what trying to use a restore point is like next month.

It does give you a choice about what file associations it makes. If you unpacked the umod and it didn't have the regular icon you'd expect then I'd have to guess that you moved your installation of UT from the original installation location. That could as easily mean that maybe you renamed your UT2K4 folder after you installed the game. That will break all UT file associations icluding umods. To know if this is what happened for sure, install UT again but to a totally different location, then go back and try your umod again. Tell us what happens OK?

Could anybody get the Umod to run? Could it have been WinRAR that messed up the file?

No problems here either.
I could be quite possible that there was an error that happened while downloading it. I've had it happen to me a few times.
Is it possible for you to download it again? Maybe grab the zipeed version?

And, not to worry about remove WinRar, if you uninstall it all the associations will revert back to WinZip.
I used both for a while, never had a bit of problems.
If you want to keep Winrar and just remove the associations, this is easy as well.

Just open up Winrar, along the top click on Options, and select the
last tab called "Integration"
Just un-select all of the options on the left side, and yopur good to go!

After the evailuation period ends, the program will continue to function properly, but you will be greeted by a simple nag ad at the beginning.

Herm, I have not messed around with my UT2k4 installation in any way. :(

Thanks for all the valuable information about WinRAR, Rosco. :)
I just unpacked the Umod RAR file again, and the .exe file still shows as an icon of an unknown executable file. It wants to know which program I want to open it with. "One from the internet, or one from a list." The recommended program is UT2k4; but that didn't work last time. I'm guessing you're correct; most likely the RAR file is slightly corrupted. It doesn't matter, I also got the non Umod version and installed everything manually. Nice maps! :)

Scify and Herm,
Thanks for offering Scify, but the problem is I usually get cut off downloading large files like the bonus packs because it takes several hours from my isp. If I do get them they may or may not be corrupted.
Herm said he would take care of me.
Thanks again yall
