Long story short, Dell is trying to screw me out of $800. I have faxed them information showing that they drafted the money from my account, but they are not crediting me for it. Also, I have talked to about 6 or 7 representatives from their company. All but one was rude and deceitful. I have been told on three seperate occasions that the problem was being taken care of. As it turns out, the problem was never even reported to the people that handle problems. I ask that if you are considering a new computer, or know anyone that is, please keep in mind my story. I do not think that this company deserves your hard earned money, just to screw you in the end.
Consider your local Mom and Pops computer store, or better yet, build your own. Let Dell screw the companies of the world out of their money. DO NOT LET THEM SCREW YOU OR YOUR FRIENDS.

I feel a little better now.
Thanks
Jeffery

Jarg,

Get your credit card involved. Tell them exactly what is happening.

Also, get the names of every single person you talked with, and send an official letter of complaint. If these bozos are to correct themselves, they need to know whose knuckles to rap.

If that fails, I would call the local news company. When bad press is involved, the offending companies move real fast.

Whatever you do, don't give up. It's not just the principle -- it's the $800 smackeroonies.

Mah

Jeez that sounds like there's some sort of corruption occuring that Dell home office isn't aware of, if they're not even reporting your problem up the chain of command!

I've had good luck so far with my Dell 8200, but my brother has had some problems with one of the Dell's he bought. He was talking to many different layers of tech support, who had him just about dismantle the computer himself to find out what was wrong, before the issue was settled, and they sent him new parts to install himself. It turned out that the tech support centre in Texas is either closed or reduced, because the tech support my brother was talking to was in India!

Gone are the days when I had such excellent help from the tech support staff in Texas for my old PII 300. I'm basically hoping this new one never breaks down. :?

They have turned off the connection to India because there were too many complaints. This was actually happening before. I had never heard any complaints about Dell until now. Sorry to hear it.

Sorry to hear jarg. I actually called gateway the other day a I kid you not I could not undestand one word this guy was saying WTF. I agree with Mah get your credit card company involved and the news if you have to. This crap happends to my boss alot with credit card fraud and other money issue's. Most of the time the credit card company will resolve the issue just be persistent.

if the money was drafted from your account, then someone has it. I would call the bank/creditcard and check into a possible theft....that should speed it up a bit. The bank will be able to provide exact information on the draft, and they may even handle dell if it proves they did infact take the money.

Yes, I wrote a check for this and it was drafted out of my account. Should hear something from Dell tonight, since i raised so much hell yesterday. i had to play a few games of redeemers just to calm myself down....
If nothing gets done, then the wrath of Jarg will be brought down upon the kind folks at Dell. At least, in my mind...

I dont knowif it the same over there, but dell take 1 month to get your computer to you. This is well slow, but the only reason that I can thik of is you pay for the computer straight away but in 1 months time that computer will not be worth as much.
So they ae making more money by making you wait.

UPDATE:
I got my Dell bill today. After all the fighting, bitching, and cussing.....

It is fixed.

They also credited me back the late payment fees that had been racking up, due to my bull-headedness for not paying the bills until the matter was solved. I still have not changed my mind about Dell, but I feel better about my credit rating :D
