I'm sick of CG crashing everyday. I'm about to rebuild it but I don't think I'll be putting the bells and whistles on it again with those being the little pop up messages, patches beyond 436, and I'm even thinking of losing the mapvote just to simplify. I've been pretty good about catching it crash and getting it going again and may actually look back at the batch file start up but I didn't have much luck at all with it last time due to all of the relics and redeemer mod, server adds, mapvote, etc.

I'm pleased to see Jarg on the road to greatness with UT2K4 and SRA is up and running better than ever so I'm thinking of reducing CG back to the original very simple format of original only maps etc. I think that with BIGI and Jarg and Schwantz, we will soon swing towards one of them for advanced player gamelay and maps etc for our original UT needs. Maybe DeadSun can convert his back to DeathMatch and CG will be there, just it will be plain.

I'm not planning on doing this forever by any means but my life is getting very busy with the new home, new work, and lots of other big things on the side right now. I will someday restore CG to a all out crazy server again but I don't have time to mess with it right now. Some things may swing in my favor quickly and if so, I look forward to getting to tinker towards making the best server I can. Again, this is my favorite of hobbies but I just can't seem to find the time right now like I need. Otherwise, everything is good with me right now and I look forward as always to blowing you all apart as much as possible. Oh, and no, I don't know exactly when this is going to happen but my best guess this second is next weekend even though I will start the process as soon as I post this message!

Didn't you have a batch file that would autmatically reboot CG if it crashed?

sorry to hear about all of the problems herm. What happened with the batch file...I remember you asking some time back about it.

Is it a game crash, or pc crash?

*Sigh* Hate to say but I can definately relate with everything your saying Herm. Even after a rebuilding the server back to 451 without the B I still crash at least once a day or every other day and it has gotten pretty annoying to say the least. More than likely I'll be going back to something pre 451 with all the headaches I've had.

Hope everything works out for ya bud!

I made the change yesterday. It looks like this may be the route to go as CG hasn't crashed so far. I sent an email to the UTPG group asking if the problem may have been all of the mods I was running in conjunction with their patch. Imagine this for a second......they didn't respond. No really. They didn't. Amazing. I'm shocked. How could they keep such a perfect record of not answering. I saw on another forum someone else complaining that Epic should now hand the code over to a different team since UTPG has put out very little so far. I'm starting to agree. They seem to care most about UTPURE and if the patch will work with it even though the UTPURE people have given up trying to stop cheats since they work at a code level that could never actually be stopped with this UT engine. Grrrrrrrr!

They are all playing ut2k4 Herm! lol

All we need is the redeemer mod, and mapvote to kick DeadmanWalking. Those two cause the crashes?

You know I'm having the same problem with Midway. They refuse to answer my emails about Space Invaders and Pac-Man support.

Herm just crack your UT cd in half and step away from the computer.

Hey Herm,

can you put MapVote back on and see if that caused the probs?

If not, well, then we can at least vote ...

Herm, the usual problems after a rebuild -- ping spikes way high at the beginning of every game. Is this a maxclient prob?

Had 8 people on this afternoon, but lost a lot of folks because of the lag.

I forgot about that setting! For the record, it's day three and not a single crash. I'm about to put the client rate back to norm to stop the spikes. Sorry about that. Hey FAH, why do you say that?

Herm, I understand the need for a simpler CG, but can you do us one favor. Enable mapvote.

CG hasn't crashed once since I did this so I'll put mapvote on it and see what happens then. This may not happen until Sunday.
