Gee the PC industry is catching up. I've only been using BlueTooth for a year now. I find it humerous that Apple isn't even mentioned in this article although they (as well as Sony Ericsson) are the ones that breathed life back into this technology. Not unlike USB, which the PC world was ready to give up on until Apple came along and made it the Industry standard. Of course USB is still flakey on PC's. Or so I've heard.

An article i read at the start of january said it almost died because the promise of a cheap means of connection couldn't be met or wouldn't be met they wanted too much back too quick and they backed down on there marketing plans and reduced the prices to what they said they would at the start. now there starting to add it because its worth there while to pay for it and it was designed for mobile fones anyway not pc they just tagged pc use on afterwards along with self diagnosing home wares eg fridge freezers toasters etc so they can dail up the service man themselves for help or fridges can order food as its used but thats still along way to go

Secondly I never claimed that Apple invented the technology nor that it was a PC only technology. I can tell you right now that it wasn't meant for Cell Phones without being meant for computers as well. Is your cell phone going to communicate with your refridgerator or your stove? I'm guessing no.

I was simply trying to show that once again Apple saw the potential of a technology while the rest of the tech industry was ready to throw it on ther trash heap. Just like USB. Which was a PC technology that was all but dead till Apple resurrected it.

Unfortunately like any other new technology you have to pay for it. The d-link bluetooth adapter cost me $45 but it sure as hell beats typing in all my email addys, phone numbers, & addresses, into my phone with the number pad. Not to mention my calendars.

So if bluetooth is gaining strength in the PC world then it's thanks to Apple & Sony Ericcson leading the way. So just like serial ports went the way of the Dodo because of Apple forcing in the issue with USB, so will USB more then likely become ancient history thanks to bluetooth.

How cool would it be to have a completely wireless desktop? When it does happen remember who paved the way. Of course the technology still won't quite work properly on PC's because you'll still be using windows. :twisted:

Sorry [FAH], I have to get in here. You are far too upset to let this pass by without me making a comment. On behalf of PC owners and Windows users everywhere even though I also own a Mac, I just wanted to say thanks for everything that Apple has done that has been stolen and used for PCs no matter how bad it works for PCs. Whew! Big sentance!!! Anyway, I'm positive that you are pretty much correct in most of your ravings. This one is one of the best being that again, more people will enjoy the half working PC version of whatever it is that Microsoft or whoever stole from Apple and marketed to all of us stupid penguins and sheep. I love all of the goodness my PC delivers no matter how broken it is whether I'm speaking of the software or my PC. I just hope that you succeed enough with all of your talk about how great Mac is that they stay in business long enough to take over and unify the computer world or at least continue developing technology or saving it enough for the PC folks to enjoy the rewards of this technology. I win no matter what because I have both systems. I'm on a Mac this second!!! Mac.s are pretty! This one almost does everything my PC does. This one has never broke once. Luckily, I can build my super PC 3 times over for less than what I paid for this Mac. I can upgrade everytime I rebuild too. That means that by the last time, I rebuild, my PC will be three times faster than the Mac I have AND by then someone would have stolen the technology from Apple that makes all of those progams Windows has so much trouble with work now! PC people need to make a box that looks like an iMac with the swivel flat screen and little tiny footprint. That would be cool and they would look just like my iMac. I don't ever recall saying anything about Apple having it's ideas stolen. Although Windows is a complete rip off of Macs OS it was pretty much Apple's own damn fault that it was copied by microsoft. Other then that I've never claimed that companies stole their ideas. As a matter of fact I never claimed that blue tooth was Apples. I just stated that Apple was part of the driving force for this technology.

I use a logitech trackball mouse and yes it has 3 buttons. I do like to right click. Remember that the Mac is created to be as simple to use as possible. It's geared toward folks that don't normally need to right click. With the exception of the Graphics industry of course.

To be honest with ya I probably could use the single button mouse because I spend most of my time using the command key to close windows, copy, paste, create new folders, etc. etc. etc. rather then use the mouse to do these tasks.

I really don't need to answer the car question becuase I think I already anwswered it. I never said Apple didn't uses other peoples technology as well. Apples new OS is so stable because it's underpinnings are unix based. Apple just recognizes what works and where the industry should be heading. Apple attempts to leap forward rather than take baby steps like MS. Apple is interested in building the computer right so it works. Microsoft is interested in pumping as much product as possible out there and fixing it later.

If I answered the car question you would think I was well off and that wouldn't help my cause. I'm a blue color guy that wanted a good reliable machine. I bought it used and with money my wife made on her companies stock. I bought it because I knew it was reliable and was worth a chunk of change. Even if it was used. I wouldn't by a Ford for the same reason I wouldn't buy a PC. I just don't feel they are reliable. If every once in a while you had to turn on your windshield wipers while pushing your radios power button and the power windows all at the same time just to get the car running properly again would you feel that was a reliable machine. If you had to run a diagnostic test on your car every couple days because you were afraid it had a virus the last time you filled your gas tank would you feel that was reliable? Would feel it was reliable if you had to take it into the shop once a month to install a new alarm system on it because the crooks found yet another flaw in it? PC's sound too much like Yugo's with 454's in them. Yeah there fast but what good are they if they are poorly made.

I now have 5 Macs ranging from 10 years old to 2 years old. Never had an issue with any of them. Never had to rebuild any of them. Never lost any information on any of them.

Well this thread was started because no props were given to the companies that were pushing the technology back to the forefront. That was the only point I was making. Just stating the facts and teasing a little.

Yep i agree even tho they can turn it out for next to nothing they still want there money back fast which is the point i was making. In the uk it was supposed to be rolled out for £15 per connection module when it was actually put out it was £45-50 much more then was expected
