I'll bet you no longer have Java installed. Sun Microsystems won a lawsuit that stopped Microsoft from having it in their operating system.

Go here and download Java, and see if it helps.

Do you have Ad-Aware? When you use it in conjuction with Spybot and Spybot's "immunizing" feature; you should be able to be rid of all spyware that snuck onto your computer.

If a program you got someplace stops working after you've used Ad-Aware; that's a sure sign that it came with some spyware built right in. :|

Mine broke so I uninstalled and reinstalled and still, nothing. I don't know what went wrong with it. Sad. The spybot is what stopped working. The rest of evertything is just fine.

how could that happen when it came as part of the OS?

i ran spybot and it leaves 4 i cant remember them but one is called
babe.dat and there are 2 or 3 media files that are somehow acociated with the OS it says it cant stop them or delete them cos they are still in use its pissing me off a bit do you think this is something to do with the browser problem?
i ran another program called PEST.......... cant remember the rest im at work at the moment and that said it found 754traces of spyware but it wouldnt immunise or delete cos it was an evaluation copy

what is ADaware sorry guys i dont know of most of these programs i just did a search on spyware

try closing down all programmes that are running by pressing (ctrl+alt=delete) but i'm sure you knew that part there are one or two there you have to run (can someone tell which you have to leave don't know which these are) or you have closed the whole computer but theres usually a few running in there even if you have just booted up once you have done that run ad-aware and spybot see what happens then.
as for taking the java part away i'm sure microcraps can easily do it with an update and lets face it doing it and letting you know about it is something they really like doing isn't it :?: :?:

Ad-Aware is the most popular spyware removal tool that has a freeware version. Search Google for LavaSoft. They make it. Once you install it, and start it, be sure to click the "Get latest update" link before you run it for the first time. When it's done, selct all and Quarranteen it. Then click OK and remove all and your done. DO this once twice a week and take two aspirin and call Mahatma in the morning (extra early!). I don't know what to tell you to get your stuff back that doesn't work now. Sorry.

ok still no joy with the browser animations does anyone have any recomendations for a new browser for me to try cos ie6 and netscape7 are the same.
the only thing people have said is that it might be a problem with xp (suprise suprise) the only final solution i mite have is to break out the recovery disc that i got with the laptop but that is a last resort. i dont really want to do that cos it will probably wipe all that i have on c: drive

CRAP

You are right about the recovery disk. If you use it, you will lose everything you have. So be careful. Sorry to hear about all of the trouble you are having. Don't blame the XP either. It was working in the first place. I'd bet a buck that the problem is a third party software program. Sorry. Like it or not folks, XP totally rocks and is by far the most stable OS Microsoft has ever made. I said stable, not secure.
