yes. that's the advantage of not having Mac clones (having hardware and software working together properly). and that gives people the impression that the company makes quality products (which Apple does very well). that's already a good enough reason, I think, for Apple to do what they did. one reason for having Mac clones (if done properly) is that it potentially could get Macs to become more popular than PCs. it looks to be a choice between guaranteed continuation of the Mac or a potentially much greater popularity. like I said before, the latter path was not taken so we don't know if that could have resulted in something better than where we are today.
