Well after all the work I have done to get a server back up......my pride and joy decided to give me hell last night. I had an extra 32 meg of ram laying around that I thought would help the 128 I had running in the server box but boy was I wrong......should have left it like it was. After sticking the 32 in the box I should have had 160 meg of ram. Well it was only showing up as 64 instead of 160. So thinking all I had to do was pull the 32 back out and everything would be fine. Well NO. The next boot only showed 64 meg of ram still. After almost 2 hours of changing out ram and even reseting the cmos just to see, I could never get it to show up more than 64 meg of ram. Windows 2000 does not run good at all with only 64 meg of ram so I had to give up on the server for now. I will keep messing with it to see if I can get the server machine to work right but the PC gods are not in my favor right now.<br><br>I'll keep everybody posted......<br><br>|<idcapri <p></p><i></i>

Hang in there Kid. That sux. I tried to add ram to my older sister's machine once but all we got from that was a fireworks show. Then she got a new computer from my Visa! Be careful.<br><br><br> <p>Hermskii</p><i></i>

Wow! Bet that was the most expensive RAM you have ever installed in a computer Herm. I have seen burnt RAM before in other computers but fireworks sounds kinda exciting......until ya realize ya have to pay for it. I think the motherboard itself is pretty much F@RKed up. Out of 4 different sticks of ram it only likes 2 of them......and those would be the 2 64 meg sims I have......but it still will not show more than 64 meg of RAM total if the stupid thing even post for me. The motherboard was a freebie so it is not like I am out any money because it's messed up. Maybe it is time to look into a cheap upgrade.<br><br>Oh well......I'll get something going soon.<br><br>|<idcapri <p></p><i></i>
