Hey Herm...

Am currently in the process of designing a Nuclear Winter web page with all the fun stuff associated with our old home, and more...this kind of thing was too much fun to let fall by the wayside...will probably host the file downloads from my own server, and the page from my space at my ISP...I have WAY more space available for files than my provider allows with my webspace allotment, and I won't have to worry about exceeding bandwidth. Checked into purchasing web hosting here, but with the type of service I would need, it was about $50.00 CDN per month (approx $2.79 US)..lol...
Anyways, too steep for me...so, I will be hosting the files myself...will be a bit yet before I am ready to put 'er up...am too fussy about letting others see my work before it is "just right"...being a perfectionist sucks...always takes way too long to get anything done...I'll let ya all know when it is ready for your viewing pleasure...the server still seems to be stable...had about 6 of us in there last nite and it was rock solid (crosses fingers). Am slowly adding extras as the days go by...if the stability is there after additions, then I add some more and give it a bit of time to check for probs...only about 30 maps there so far, but all the faves are there...thanx to all that have playtested...l8r, all...

Bo (newbie Redeemer Server operator)

Nuclear Winter Redeemer Outpost 24.112.225.5

I'll volunteer, but if anyone with html/javascript experience would like to contribute that would be great too. Maybe we could make this a family effort you know, have Naut/MM/anyone with an eye for graphics contribute the art, myself and whoever else willing to do code/design,etc. We will definitely have to use the SRA logo that Naut made, and there would be a nice spot for the SRA Mag covers that so masterfully done too. I will also contribute a full section of the site dedicated to dee-licious recipes containing vegemite(JUST KIDDING!!!).I would be ready to start work on the new site after finals (after 05/10).Anyhow, some questions for The Boss:What happened to the gallery of rogues and the other stuff,is it gone forever or what?

Who's your Vegemite?
Hoosier Vegemite?
DS is!

I have a dedicated, co-located server that has a 100Mbit connection to the internet. I do not mind to donate the webspace and bandwidth. RH8, Apache, PHP ... I can do the DNS and other Admin stuff for you.

N6NU

Edited by: n6nu at: 4/25/03 9:08:57 pm

I too am on the edge of actually hosting my already present and pathetic site. I plan to do mine by myself but will ask plenty of questions in the near future. I like Bo want to get it going before I release it to the public. I actually did a lot of stuff tonight but have the rest of my life to go. I imagine this will be my new time killer aside from CG. Whatever I develope will suck at first but will eventually be truly awesome as time goes. I have tons of web space right now and I hope that ya'll will link to me as I hope to get to link to your sites. That's all for right now but I wanted you to know so you wouldn't think I was ignoring the server or you guys by not playing very much. I hope you other folks know more about web stuff than me or you're in big trouble. LOL Good luck!

Hermskii

Well? I already have a domain ( http://Digi-Hut.com ) and about 100 Meg of space I'm not useing right now. Sounds like a good idea would be to have a "distributed" site with one "front portal". That would give us plenty of space for pages, files, etc. Just need to figure out who will be the portal and how to split up the site among those who wish to join in. I have a fairly good HTML and VRML background and would be willing to help code the site.

MickeyM©

6 Days till Disney World

Hey BO, Dead that sounds great. Let me know if you guys need any graphics for the site. My offer is till good for anyone who wants there face attached to a UT skin. Maybe a whole group shot with everyones head superimposed on their own UT skin would be a nice touch. If anyone has some great screencaps you can send them my way. Looking to do maybe a nice colage of images.

This really has turned into some kind of bizarre cult.

Naughtius Maximus

"Brothers! Hey, I would like to get involved in this as well. I have absolutely no skill, but I am willing to learn. I want to take my pages down on my site, and re-do them. I could be in charge of the beginning tips and tricks to help get newbies started. I have also wanted to put up a kinda most wanted page with in game pictures of each individual, and a short bio (fake, of course). Plus, if we pool our rescorces, we can make a killer site for us all. Perhaps good enough for a start page....

What do you folks think?
<SRA> The Jargonaut

This sounds like it's building steam. I like the most wanted idea Jarg. Maybe if we are all seriously thinking about this we should get it organized here.

Who is going to provide the web space?
Who is going to build the site?
Who will administer & update the site?
Who will be creating graphics?

I have photoshop, Illustrator, & Dreamweaver so I would be happy to help in any capacity. I also have web space but I have my personal site up for my family and my future employment aspirations, so unless no one else can provide the web space I'd rather not host it. It sounds like Web space isn't an issue though. Not that anyone asked me.
At the very least if anyone wants to send me a pic of themselves and a screen cap of themselves playing as well as a brief Bio(i.e. playing style, how long you've been playing, favorite maps, favorite skins, favortie voice pack, etc. etc.) I can throw together a layout for the most wanted page like jarg had mentioned. As a matter of fact I may just put one of myself up on my site and see what you guys think.
Ok am I getting to far ahead of myself. What a passionate group of fraggers we are. Ok maybe Obsessed.
Hey schwantz don't think for a second that none of us wouldn't have done this for you. It's just that you did such a fine job with everything that none of us felt you needed the help. Your site will be dearly missed.
Naughtius Maximus

"Brothers!
