Ok a couple quick things.

1. For those of you running UT servers are you guys running it out of the regular game or did you douwnload UT server and run it that way.

2. If you guys are running UT server just from inside the game how did you configure your routers. I thought it was a port forwarding issue but that didn't seem to work. I'll be damned if I can figure out why my server isn't posting on the server list. Of course my problem can be just that I don't have UT server.

3. Can one of you guys send me the Redeemer arena mod or give me the link to where I can download it. I tried just dragging my UTsystem folder over the network to the computer I'm going to have the server on but all the necessary components don't seem to be there. I know what I did sounds stupid to some of you but when you use a Mac it seems like drag and drop works with everything. It was a long shot but I figured why the hell not give it a shot. It seems to work fine as far as playing but the message log that comes up when running the server says I am missing numerous files associated with the mod.

4. Lastley thanks for sending me that file Tri. Sorry I didnt get back to you.

Naughtius Maximus

"Brothers! What we do in life...echoes through eternity!"

Sorry NM, I know this post doesn't apply to me, but I couldn't help daydreaming about something:

With all the extra computers becoming Redeemer Servers, I have the fantasy of linking them all up into one gigantic RArena -- parallel processing! Can you imagine being able to host a game of 30 or 40 people?!

OK, back to work.
<SRA>/v/ahatma

I'm now running dedicated servers..not from the retail pack but the downloadable dedicated server. The UT server is on Linux and the ut2K3 is win2K soon to be linux.

I am beginning to believe that the linksys router is causing many of the disconnect and other problems ... I will be removing the router and putting the UT machine direct on the internet later tonight.

We'll see if the problems go away.. If you want to use linux we can discuss. I'll be glad to help.

Non-Poncing Schwantz

Yeah I think you may be right Boss. I have a linksys to and I seem to be running into some problems as well. I haven't got linux going yet because I had a weee problem with the used western Digital HD I was using. When I get there I'll be sure to give you a shout.
Hey herm I got the Mod from the Boss' site but from what I understand you can't use the translocator with his version. I may need your version. I kinda like using the translocator during play. just adds the extra element. As far as the router goes I'll give you a shout as soon as I catch ya online. I just reinstalled UT and added all the mods so I'm pretty much ready to go.
Naughtius Maximus

"Brothers! What we do in life...echoes through eternity!"

I, like Schwantz, run a dedicated server, but it is the full install instead of the server-only package. I run it from outside the game, using a shell script(read:Linux equivalent of a batch file)to start the game.
Mah, are you suggesting a "Beowulf Cluster" of UT servers?
DS

hey guys I came across this article concerning linksys routers and this guy suggests using the DMZ settings on the router. I thought this may be the key to me getting this thing up. It looks kinda risky though. It's about the 10th paragraph down in this article.

http://www.hostingtech.com/geek/01_11_route.html

This one at the linksys site also mentions DMZ

http://www.linksys.com/press/success.asp?scid=90&cyear=2000
Naughtius Maximus

"Brothers! DMZ is fine is you're only got one server.. I won't to have two on the same IP so now i'm toying with the ID of a linux firewall/gateway..

Industry Linux types say its a better way to go...

We'll see..

NoPonce Schwantz
