After 2 nights of dog cussing.....I finally was able to throw my server back up. It's very stripped down at the moment........just redeemer mod and about 30 maps or so. There is no mapvote yet (there will be soon - as in by tomorrow at the latest) and no fancy skins. So nothing to download or get in the way of a frag or 2.

Mainly posting this just to see if anybody else out there can see it.

The name hasn't changed from last time. It is still Kidcapri's Redeemer Remix and the IP is:

24.170.16.181

Please let me know if it is showing up. If everything is working right the next step is to get the fast downloads up and running. I think I got a pretty good idea how to do it so if I can get it running there will be some more maps and a couple of skins thrown in the mix also.

Hope everybody enjoys!

Stay out of the drama......... |<idcapri

I never downloaded that piece of crap Bonus Pack #2 so I got on just fine. No "De File Mismatch" error for me. I see you got the map vote working perfectly. I also very much like the way you renamed all of the extra maps to be obviously different from the default maps. I only have two negatives to mention and one of them you are already working on. 1 is the fast downloads. I was downloading a new map and got the connection failed error because the bots finished before I got the map downloaded. 2, When I hit F2, i wasn't able to send you a email because the admin email isn't listed. TRhis is a great way to get advice from etc. List your email. 3, FPH counter must be broke. I played a near perfect game but didn't beat Death's records. Something is obviously totally wrong. Oh wait! I know! I can't manually put myself at the top of the list on a server that isn't mine. LOL. It looks good. It ran fine. Rebuild and reinstall everything but the Bonus Pack #2.

Hermskii

Thanks Herm. I was about to call it a night and checked it right before bed and saw ya on. Tried to boot up my main computer to say Hi and you had already left.

Yeah I have to do something about the Chaos UT maps that jumped in there. It was part of the second disk for the Game of the Year edition. Keep forgetting that not everybody has those maps and without the fast downloads running it becomes a nightmare of sit and wait.

The email thing I need to set up. Still haven't set up my account with RR yet......guess call me lazy on that one. Might actually have to set it up along with the half dozen other things I have going on.

Hey Herm....or anybody that would know, if I can't get my webserver up and running do by chance know of any public redirects that I could point it at. I have done some looking and have not had any luck with it. At least this way I could get it running well while I try and figure out the webserver stuff. Basically my main goal is to have everything on the same machine but if it becomes too much for my little server box then I will and to find other alternatives.

Anyways......thanks for the help and keep the comments coming.

Thanks,

|<idcapri

P.S. I will have it down part of Sunday night to do some tweaking and fixing. Sometime between 8 p.m. cst and 10 p.m.

Edited by: Kidcapri at: 4/20/03 1:49:16 pm

Ok......I think I have it figured out now. The fast downloads should be up and running.

Could somebody that does not have any of the Chaos UT stuff installed please pick one of the DM-CUT maps to see if I have the redirect set up right.

Thanks,

|<idcapri

Added: Well I thought I had all the Chaos UT stuff on there but I was wrong. Was messaged this morning by BH and she told me that it was sending files like it should but would crap out on one of them and said she would get the "server refused to send file" message. I am gonna run home during lunch and I should have that little problem taken care of by 1 p.m. cst if anybody cares. I had a friend that need help setting up a home entertainment center last night and needless to say I did start messing with stuff until after 1 a.m. last night/this morning. Had everything I thought would be needed up and running by 3 and had to crash out for work. Anyways......give the DM-CUT maps a try. Some of them are pretty cool. Enjoy!

Edited by: Kidcapri at: 4/22/03 8:33:11 am

Thanks Bo. Glad to see that a couple of ppl have checked it out. I think I have hammered out all the problems I was having with file redirection and everything seems to be running smooth. Spent about 3 hours compressing files last night......basically everything in my UT folder. Every time I thought I had every file compressed for the DM-CUT maps another file would pop up and bite me in the butt. Solution: Compress almost EVERYTHING!!! LOL At least ya know a file can't be missing that way. Herm, I did figure out the redirect on the same machine and so far gameplay seems to hold up pretty good. There would have to be a bunch of ppl on there to really tax it but from what I have seen so far I don't think it will be a problem.

If for some reason I somehow missed something and you get an error like the server is refusing to send a file please let me know which file it is and post it here.

Basically rebuilding this server has been more of a theraputic (sorry if I mispelled that) kinda of thing for me. With all the troubles I had with my home life in the past couple of months this has kept me busy and sane for that matter.

Since everything is working now I will start putting some more maps and skins on. If there are any maps or skins that any of y'all would like to see on there please let me know.

Well I have to say thanks again to Herm for the quick lesson in DOS awhile back and for the input. Also want to thank Death, Soup (a friend of mine that I am trying to get to start playing), Blondehottie, Slayed, Bo and Trigon for their help and input.

Hope everybody enjoys the server.......its been fun trying to put it back together.

|<idcapri

P.S. Hey Bo, saw where you had your server up. Did the ini file help any? Just wondering

Edited by: Kidcapri at: 4/23/03 8:29:42 am

Hey Kid:

Just got your .ini today as an e-amilattachment from BH. Had the server up before I got a chance to see it. Dead Sun had also sent me his...although after comparison of my .ini and his, it didn't seem that the minor differences I saw would have been the cause of the prob. I did do some tweaking of my router setup...seems to have been the culprit. I had a feeling that the router was the cause of the problems. Thanks anyway for sending it along. Glad to see the Remix is rockin', m8...

Bo

Thanks again Bo,

Glad to see on the other post that the server is running great! I have been so busy trying to get maps and goodies on the server I haven't been able to stop by and check her out but so far the stuff I have read about it sounds great. That DE version mismatch is a pain in the butt like Herm said. I did my install from the G.O.T.Y. edition too and after running into that problem just went on and deleted the DE files and killed the line in the .ini file for it.

I was able to put a bunch of maps on the server last night......about 35 extras. I found an old folder on my second hard drive with a bunch of maps and just kinda randomly picked a bunch to stick on there. Some of these I think are off Schwantz and some of the other names for the maps look familier so most of the regulars should have these maps. If not the fast download should be able to hook ya up. Over the next couple of days I will go thru these maps and some others I have and try and get a good group to work with.

And on other additions I have some skins that I was thinking of putting on. Already have a request for the rumiko skin and another one for somebody else. If you have a special skin that you want to play I don't mind sticking new ones on there. Just let me know.

Well I guess I better get off this thing and get some work done here at work. Hope everybody enjoys and good luck to the other ppl out there that are setting up servers.

Herm/Schwantz......please don't feel threatened by the outbreak of new server admins. I am sure everybody that has started or is trying to start as server has there own reason for doing so. Me personally have a couple of reason why I did........let me explain. The first server I had running awhile back started out as basically something I had to see if I could pull off. Well after about 2 or 3 weeks worth of trying I was finally able to make the first one work. It was a great feeling of accomplishing something new that I had never mess with before. Well the second one has a different story behind it. After some family problems, me and the wife went separate ways and I needed something to fill in the free time that I had and to keep my mind off of things. Hince the second server was born.

Well I hope everybody enjoys the server because I have sure enjoyed doing the work to make it right........even learned how to use a webserver which has been interesting.

|<idcapri
