Dude, you are so smart and well spoken it is scaring me. I know Mah is sitting here reading this right now, thinking to himself, going "But I was the one with all the Hoiyty Toiyty quotes and big smart words and stuff" Mah, I think you are the best too. Feel better now? Clem, keep it up. It's incredible to me to see people try hard to help other people. This is just another (yes another!) piece of evidence that this is by far the coolest forum around.

Hermskii

this is quoted from this person Aucald thatthat hahave same trouble
Well... I've been working on my UT problem (among other things) and have made one significant discovery. The problem I am having, and perhaps the problem several XP users are having, doesn't have to do with input devices. What is happening, at least on my side, is that one of the compressed texture packages (apparently randomly chosen, they may all have errors in them) is loading a corrupt or truncated texture, causing the system to experience a low-level hang/freeze. The keyboard and devices bound to its hardware layer (like my Nostromo n50 speedpad) are locked out, while my USB mouse continues to function. If I set the mouse to a button that allows me to move (not my normal configuration) then I can move while the error is happening, although it causes my video to overlap and glitch horribly.
The corrupt texture gets caught in an endless loop as the .vxd NV4_DISP tries to render it, eventually consuming the video card's allocation of memory and booting me from the game. I have tried various reinstalls, and I now assume that the problem comes not from the disc but rather from my actual CD-drive. I, unfortunately, do not have another CD-ROM drive to test on but I am looking to acquire one today. If this fixes my problem, we will at least have one path of resolution. This problem happens even when I only perform a base install (using only the main CD) so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the enhanced textures on the second CD.

Some this descirb some my trouble.

Edited by: Scify at: 4/18/03 12:58:19 pm

The link should take you directly to the driver page. There should be a primary download site link.
<SRA> The Jargonaut
