Peanuts are to peanut butter what Vegemite is to vitamin enriched sandwich spreads. I have never had any but I understand that it is a very strong smelling and tasting paste of sorts that is very thinly applied to bread and eaten. I think what most people do is apply the spread with something else like meat trying to cover up the taste of the Vegemite so they can still get the nutrition from the Vegemite. <br> My best explanation of why we use the term here so much is that Vegemite is made of several different ingredients and is apparently extremely condensed. It is also packed full of vitamins and such so is accepted as being a healthy choice though it is a taste that like smoking must be acquired. I would say that to call someone anything followed with the addition of Vegemite is the say that among many other things about that person that the word in front of Vegemite has some excessive quantity about which may be excessive to the point of being funny or annoying and yet over all the person is still good. I had the Moral Vegemite moniker for a long time due to me making calls on whether cussing should be allowed etc on the servers. The good here would be like the vitamins in Vegemite. The bad would be not being able to cuss which could relate to the bad taste of Vegemite. So Vegemite here might be described as a lot of good and bad compacted into a word and assigned to a person view or specialty.
