I have one pc with cable modem access (Roadrunner), and would like to connect 2 more pc's. These pc's would be in different rooms - 3 pc's in 3 rooms.<br><br>What's the best way to do this? Wireless? Hi!<br> I use a Linksys BEFSR41 Cable/DSL Router with my cable connection. It has DHCP services built in so it will assign IP address to each system dynamicly as you connect them. <br>I use the SMC Barricade Wireless router. I have 2 desktops and a roving laptop networked.<br><br>If any of your PCs are far apart from each other, then I say go wireless. However, if in between there are large metal or water obstructions (like a water heater), this may interfere with the signal. All the info I see here is correct. True, I've had some trouble with wireless but I think it keeps getting better and cheaper monthly. I will giv it another shot someday. The only tip I have if you go wireless is to use WEP which is a wireless protocal that has security. Wait! One more thing. Be sure to but the router in the center of all of the PC's. I see people put it on one side of the house and wonder why they don't get a signal on the other. Put it in the middle and give the whole house a fair shot at connecting to the signal.<br><br>Hermskii <p></p><i></i>

Thanks for all the info.<br><br>I took the plunge and got a Linksys wireless access point router w/ 4-port switch, and a wireless usb adapter.<br><br>I was installing the router and it told me to hook up the ethernet cable to the cable modem but I don't see any place to hook up the cable to! I'm on Roadrunner with a Toshiba cable modem (just like Jester's, I think). The cable modem does have a USB slot, though. Do I need to get some kind of adapter to use the USB slot?<br><br>Anyone, anyone? Bueller? <p></p><i></i>

Good choice on the router Hans. I have the same one but use it with DSL. As far as connection goes you should just need a length of RJ45 to connect your modem to your router. As far as how well gaming on the servers is wireless I have had no problems. Pings seem to be steady in mid 100's. Thats down from the 400's I had on 56k.
