Well heck Boss...I'm truley gonna miss SRA !! Seems like it was just the other day I lucked out and discovered this great place to play on. Not only did it have great maps, a great Mod but it had these fantastic players on it as well. A dream come true.. Some of the old timers have gone but many more came to fill in. I'm sad to see it go......

Thankx Boss for a great run. Your the best !

Das Hook

Wow...I actually thought that this day would come later than sooner. Once I found SRA, I actually became aquainted with some of the regs before I even met them -- in the form of bots; Torpid_BassRammer, Transgender_Mah, and all the others. I remember the 1st time that I sat down to install all the addons necessary, which at cable speed was still a pretty serious matter. I also remember that that was one of the first places that I ran in to our German brethen the Fatz-Clan, and was amazed at how completely I got my 4$$ kicked! I, like Skank, am in need of an upgrade before UT2k3 will be fun for me; until then I will be playing classic. Thank you for all the fun over the past year, and good luck be to clem and yourself as you guys bring RA into UT2k3 with style!
....................../´¯/)
....................,/¯../
.................../..../
............./´¯/'...'/´¯¯`·¸
........../'/.../..../......./¨¯\
........('(...´...´.... ¯~/'...')
.........\.................'...../
..........''...\.......... _.·´
............\..............(
..............\.............\...
DeaD_SuN

Geez!

By the tone of the personal emails I've received tonight, you'd think that I had just told you all that I had a terminal illness! But that's not the case. I'm sending this note to answer some of your questions. I will reprint in the forum for those that aren't on Herms' mailing list.

The SRA forum is not going away. There will be changes to my website meaning some updates and more content to UT2K3. I will continue to admin and moderate the forum. Mah has moderator rights on the forum. I may not have told him though..lol.
I'm not moving to Toronto where I can pass out with my arm in the toilet on a regular basis (especially my birthday). There is no need as I've convinced Mrs. Schwantz to wear the diving goggles, snorkel and swim fins.
I haven't given up on UT and starting this week, I will be playing on CG or any other server that is serving up redeemer arena and continuing on in SRA fashion.
I 100% support Herm and any server he keeps going. I agree with many of you, that this moment completes the passing of the torch. Herm has surpassed me and deserves to wear the Redeemer Arena crown for UT. I hope he adds a few of my favourite Deck maps now..
SRA2 will be running with Clem's mod and I'll be adding skins, maps and voice packs as time progresses. SRA2 is the first server where I've run the dedicated server. Not having to install the retail product.
No, I'm not bored with the program, server, game etc. I just don't want to tie up one of my 4 pc's if it's not going to be used. I want whatever server I'm running to be used and enjoyed on a regular basis. The one real kicker that pushed me into SRA retirement was that SRA was down for over a week and there were no emails or comments in the forums for the first 4 days. At that point, I realized, it wasn't needed. I will try other games, mods etc in hopes it can fulfill a role. I will take this opportunity to do some upgrading on the SRA box as it is currently a Celeron 850. I've been wanting to try the Nforce2 motherboards for Athlon's.
I'm not quitting because I finally had some vegemite.
I'm not quitting because Mah is moving only 165 miles away from Schwantz Central.
I'm not quitting because Torpid's Ass is Flat. (We may need Christopher Columbus to change that)
I'm not quitting because I had to arrest myself for having a sat dish.
Running the server, forum, web site and chatting with all of you has been a part of my life for the past 4 years or so and I look forward to continuing it. I honestly consider many of you as good internet friends. If any of you come to Vancouver, I'd be pleased to share a drink with you. I feel very proud of taking this to where it is today. I can still think back to the first day I played on some weird server that was running this ridiculous redeemer mod and how I became addicted to it and of course the Deck Maps. One day, the server I was playing on disappeared and that's when I decided to figure out how to start my own server. Our German friends started preaching the redeemer arena word in Europe and started their own server.
Again, I'm not going anywhere. You're not getting rid of me. Thank you so much for the kind words in the emails and on the forums.
