My first try at building a pc is done. Y'all better watch out Deadman is running P4 at 1.8 Gig soon to be 2.4. New Asus MB, 512 DDR, 120gig of harddrive, geforce4 and magic 56k connection. I am just glad to be off lap top, darn touch pad is not that good for gaming. It took longer than I expected because of bad power supply. Just because it's new doesn't mean its good!

Computer Challenged
Deadman Walking

|

Good for you sir! i can't believe you were on a laptop all this time. I couldn't imagine how awful that would be. What GF vid card did you get? Be careful with the new baby and congrats too. A new PC always makes such a big difference. I hope you get the rest of the stuff soon too. Let us now how it goes! Be sure to tell us what differences you notice the most with the new system over the old.

Hermskii

|

I would never have tryed this without yall. My new pc works good. I don't win any more games but Y'all look so good while kicking my butt. Added a case fan and turned up proccessor to 2.4 ghz seems to work well. Using stock fan and heatsink with arctic silver heatsink compound. Highest I have seen cpu temp is 42 C motherboard 35 C. Is this OK? I have used Arkansas benchmarking, turn on pc, it works, way COOL! I have shown my friends but they are all inbred bad spellers and not impressed.

Computer Challenged
Deadman Walking

|
Very very nice DM. 42C is excellent! Have you run Prime95 for a few hours to tax the processor and see how stable it runs at 2.4?

Next thing you'll have to do is get highspeed internet access!

All the money you'll save on music and porn will justify the cost ...

|

Great to hear your "First" attempt at overclocking went so well. Beleive it or not I've had mine up to 3.26 ghz so far so the end is not in site for you. Further than 2.4 ghz needs some real stable mem, CPU, heatsink and carefull tweeking of the bios. Point is tho...it can be done !! I had to drop mine down for ensured reliablity cause it now runs as a stand alone server. Small LLC on the net. My buddy used to run it but he went to the "Big Sandy" to whoop on Saddem. I got the duty...heh. It dos look like I'll have to build another one tho cause my Celery Stick is feeling it's age. Runs like a 386DX now !! Bummer. DSL is cool but it didn't help my playing....still get my butt stomped. Damnit!!

Keep on kicken it...Arkansas benchmarking..LOL

Das Hook

|
Damn Hook you've got it cranked up good! What speed are you running it at now? If your thing has been that flexible with OCing, stick one of those watercoolers on it and pump it up to 4 Ghz, LOL!!!

|
