It worked! I know that I need to burn this new 2.4 processor in, but so far so good.
I just ran 3DMark2002 and got almost 12000 with no overclocking. That's up from 8600 with the old processor. WOOHOO! I will let you all know if it holds up under pressure. If you do not know what I am talking about, see the post entitled "You folks remember this post"
Later
The Jargonaut

Oh yeah!! So far so good. There is a HUGE difference in Unreal 2. I have it turned up all the way on goodys, and running at 1280X1024. Slowdowns happen, but are barely noticable. I will give it a workout this weekend!
The Jargonaut

Death wants to buy your old rig. Apparently it can do Adobe projects faster than his Mac ...

Oh Mah! Was that really needed. You know you're going to get some people all fired up and this started out as a powerleap thread, not Power-Mac. LOL Man you have a big stirring stick. Here it comes. I can tell it's about to hit the fan.

Hermskii

Funny, I do not get the sarcasm. LOL, oh well. I'm happy, and that is all that matters to me. If this thing holds up, I think that it is a really good find. Why buy a new computer if you can upgrade your processor? The only downside is that I do not get the 533 FSB. I'm stuck at 400, but that seems good enough for now.
There is an improvement in application speed in this rig. I get better FPS in games (unfortunately, UT online is still around the same because I am handycapped by my 56K connection). No hitches as of yet.
The Jargonaut
