Was away with Mrs. Mahatma for the weekend in Seattle, looking around the neighborhoods. Will take the next day or two to catch up on the interesting posts in the forum ...

Was given a driving tour of the city's desirable neighborhoods by a member of the faculty: Mount Lake, Ravenna, Wallingford, Fremont, Queen Anne, Madison Park, Capitol Hill, and the U. Don't think we can afford any of these neighborhoods, so where should we live?

Torpid Splatter Boy's backyard.

Well, well... Good show Mah!!! Glad to see that you made the decision. As one of the leading members of the Pacific NW Redeemer Arena Association, may I welcome you and your lovely wife to our fair city. As a courtesy, I will be happy to sponsor your admittance as a full member to the PNWRAA... as long as you don't move to the east side.

metorpolis

Hey,
Good luck finding a place to live. Like I said, my sister lives in Kirkland which is not cheap, but its not really bad like a lot of places. I guess it matters what type of place you are looking for, I have friends who live on Capital Hill as well relatively cheaply. Anyway, when you get out there and have a summer day to kill take 90 towards snoqualmie and get off on the Roslyn/Salmon La Sac exit. If you stay on the exit side youll see a lumber yard and DOT gravel area. Cross the lumber yard to the old train tracks and proceed down them as if you were still traveling on 90. You will hit a beautiful area that is the CleEllum River and Yakima River convergence. I fished there till I was 18. Freakin beautiful, right up next to the mountains, so much so you can climb them up about 500 feet pretty easily!

I have a million little nooks the NW has left with me. I'll give you my 2 bits here and there.

misanthrope
www.marshallhoyt.com

Humanity is a plague unto itself....save the planet, kill yourself!!!

Good Grief Mah....Seattle huh. I'm turning green with envy already. Gotta be one of the best moves yet for ya. Anything is better than being a under paid, unappreciated California educator. Just think....NO STATE TAXES. And NO Grey Davis. Cool !!

Hope only the best for you and yours.

Das Hook

Post subject: I have family in Seattle!

I've never been there but I heard it rains all the time. Grunge music started there and they don't have bill-boards littering the view. Hate to think of moving from Cali where I did live for a year before and have family there too. Cali is great especially San Diego. There's not a right move or a wrong one in my opinion. Good luck either way. Be careful during the move.

Hermskii

Dude, you know I live in Olympia? I'm a bit afraid of meeting you in person but that looks like a distinct possibility. Please post your specific street address so I can stalk you before actually introducing myself.

In case you haven't figured it out, there is no place in Seattle that costs a reasonable amount of money. I lived in West Seattle 7 years ago and paid just over $100K for a condo that now sells for about $250. Guess I'm sorry I moved (although 1/2 of that money would presumably now be lining the pockets of the former Mrs. Fodder).

Details! mtnbikermike@usa.net

best of luck,

cf

No kidding fod -- didn't know that. A friend of mine has been teaching at Evergreen right there in Olympia for 5 years. Now is moving out east to teach at Mt Holyoke.

I think it would be weird to meet any of you all in person, only because you create such an idealization in your head when interacting online. No one lives up to those weird pictures you draw for yourself, and then the fun is lost. Plus, there's the stalker issue ... Ahahahahahahaha!

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

I'm not gonna hurt you. Wendy, darling, light of my life, I'm not gonna hurt you. You didn't let me finish my sentence. I said, I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm just gonna bash your brains in.

Hey Mah I think you left a work out of that Jack quote.... comes just before "brains," if I remember correctly?

The irony continues: My evil ex-wife went to Mount Holyoke. I trust your friend knows she is in for quite a change: Evergreen is just a tad... off-center. Mount Holyoke is just a tad... not.

I assure you that I would do my best to live up to whatever weird picture you have drawn of me. Please post it so I can get started.

cf
