you were asking about New Order / Joy Division a while back..

if you want to know more about them, go to
www.neworderweb.com/ (official site)
www.neworderonline.com/ (a fan site)

New Order, for the most part, started out as Joy Division in the mid/late 70s and through some unfortunate event, they became New Order in the early 80s. you should be able to find some info on the history of the band and other stuff on neworderonline.

better known New Order songs I like the most, I'd say it's a tie between Bizarre Love Triangle and True Faith. although, in my opinion, the best part of a New Order song, by far, is the ending to Perfect Kiss on disc 1 of the album Substance (from after Bernard finishes singing '... now I know the perfect kiss is the kiss of death.' to the end of the song).

perhaps, in time, you will come to like their music?

- clemmentine

____________________________________________________________
... I couldn't get to the first (official) site, but I did get to the fan site. I know that if I heard a few songs, I would recognize them. That time period is right up my alley. Perhaps this weekend, I will be able to download some songs on WinMX or Kazaa. Thanks for the information, Clem. I am always looking for some new sonic experiences :)
The Jargonaut

sorry about that; after I've posted the link, I noticed that the site seems to be down.. not sure why. neworderonline should have plenty of info for you to look at. they also have songs and videos of New Order, Joy Division, and others for you to listen to and watch.

New Order songs have been used in several movies over the years. most of the time, it's the song Blue Monday (or its numerous variants). though not really one of my favorites, I would guess that's their most well known song.

new sonic experiences? try some Enya if you haven't already.. her music has been keeping my mind in check since grad school.

- clemmentine

____________________________________________________________
... Oh yes. I know Bizarre Love Triangle. I haven't heard it in a LONG time. DOH, and of course, Blue Monday. I am Kazaaing it now, so I will download some more of their music. I like that kind of music. It is the reason that I played synth in the band. It fits my style perfectly!
Thanks Clem
The Jargonaut

Edited by: Jargonaut at: 12/29/02 11:11:58 am
