I was playing SRA the other day and I had my laptop connected as well. Both PC were having to download some files since I had a fresh install on each of them and they didn't have the cached files they needed. My main system, (the desktop), is a XP2100 running WINXP. The laptop is a Pentium 1000 running WIN2000. When the map in the game rotated to the next map, both computers had to download the new files. Both downloaded the files in exactly the same time. I would have thought the faster system would have been faster. Do you think the router load balanced the downloads or something? This just seems wrong to me. Do you think the SRA server load balanced the file? Wierd?

Hermskii

I believe, the reason they finished at the same time is probably because downloading isnt very cpu intensive, its PCI bus intensive.( both are probably only 66 mhz)
Both computers could download much faster, its all up to you incoming internet connection.

Gong! Nice theory but the main system has a 266 fsb with a 333mhz chipset and the laptop has a 100 fsb with who knows what speed chipset. I agree downloading isn't processor intensive but I would have thought there would have been a noticible difference at least. I'd have to guess that it was the router doing the load balancing. It does have a switch. Isn't that what it is supposed to do? I JUST DON"T KNOW. AUGHHHHHHG!

Hermskii
