Well thank you very much Scify. I'm glad you think so. I am actually going to school for graphic design but I am not sure I'll ever be able to afford the pay cut I'll have to take to be an entry level designer. I've already got a Photo degree under my belt which I didn't use so I might as well go for another one. I'm like 12 credits shy. I actually dropped out this semester because I have to concentrate on feeding my next child and paying off my bills. I should be able to finish it off in the summer. it's only an associates. Like I said though, it may just be another useless piece of paper. Knowledge is power though right.
Naughtius Maximus

If it is okay with Schwantz, I will send in another photo. I will be visiting Virginia tomorrow, so I will stop off at the parkway and snap a pic. I will try not to Adobe it up TOO much. I hope to see you folks on the servers this weekend. This will be another busy weekend for me. I am really missing you folks as well as the servers. Looking forward to it.

The Jargonaut
The Jargonaut

LMAO

Hermskii and BO are the same person!!!! I think you are right Boss -- that is a picture taken from JAIL! lol Just kidding, Bo and Herm.

So there you finally have it. Me, showing you mine. I guess Schwantz felt my naked picture was just too offensive for this group of pinky-finger-tea-cuppers!

I'm really glad Deadman's picture is the first one -- he deserves the prime spot for being the one with the most hours logged on SRA (and that is leaving out all the hours needed to download maps on a 56K)!

Damn my UTwatcher is still not working ...

Yeah I love B/W Photography Scify. I use to have a dark room set up in my folks basement back in the day. No ventilation. That would explain the lack of brain cells these days. Film based photography is going to be a thing of the past very quickly. Digital is out of control now. I have a Kodak DX3500 and it takes great pics. Didn't have to install any software or anything. Just press a button and it opens up iPhoto on the Mac and imports the photos from the camera. Nice resolution to. I don't have a zoom lens though. Next camera will be in the 6 megapixel range with a zoom lens. Soon as I have 2 grand to dump on 1.
Naughtius Maximus

Yeah that Nikon rocks I'm sure. I have like a 30 year old Pentax. It's solid. Nothing beats those old steel body cameras. They weigh a ton to.
Naughtius Maximus

Sci, I'm an amateur photographer at best. It's a hobby of mine that I wished that I had more time for. In this day and age, digital is the way to go. And don't underestimate the power of Adobe. I used Adobe Photo Deluxe 3.0 and Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.0 for that pic. Nautimax, that 6 meg camera sounds great! I still use an Olympus D-400 1.3 meg. I was in the local Best Buy, and was looking at both types of cameras. I could not believe how little you have to pay to get a really nice 35mm camera. I'd have to get another job to get that Carl Zeiss lens though.
The Jargonaut

I here ya Jarg. If I decided to stick with film based cameras I wouldn't waste my time buying a 35mm though. I would say go for a medium format job. Like a Hasseblad or a Mamya. The bigger the negative, the smaller the grain size, the crisper the photo. it will cost a couple grand though so you might as well by a 6.3 meg digital job for that kinda money. Youd save the money on developing the film and having prints made that is for sure. Of course a 4" by 5" camera is even sweeter. I have an old 4by5 korona that takes fantastic pictures. It's over 100 years old and it kicks the crap outta any camera I've ever owned. Of course it's not like you can just lug this thing around to parties and family get togethers in your jacket pocket like you can with these little digital jobs now.
Naughtius Maximus

I know of what ya speek. Nautmax and Jarg.. I have a strong feel for film cameras. Currently I own a 35mm Mamya DTL, Mamya 4X5 and a Sony Mavaca CD1000.

The 35 is simply great. The 4X5 is Outstanding. Period!! The Digital is also great. At least as good as any 35mm around today. All screw on filters are used as needed. Set on manual, there is almost nothing you can't do w/CD1000.

When I was a younger man, a few months ago, I would take the 4X5 into the back woods of Colorado. Armed with film packs a lite tri-pod and a ripstop head cover, I took many photos of Heaven. Back in town it took a long time to develop the prints cause I was always changen my boxers fer fresh ones. Never saw pictures that good and I never saw a Hasseblad do better

Film Lives

Hookster

Just make sure to ban the baby oil.

M
