There I am, playing CG1 late last night. There are about 4 people in, and I don't recognize a single name. I can't remember the map but I get totally spanked on the first round. I mean I lose by around 15 frags but I did come into the round late. I GG naturally as does 2 of the other players. Boom! The new map is instantly selected by the two better players from the last round and off we go to the next map. I power up the skills quite a bit and win by 2 frags. Another quick GG and the new map is selected quickly again. I power up the skills all the way and barely win another match. GG I say as do these two other players. I watch them carefully to see if I recognize strategies. I couldn't put a finger on it other than to say that both of them were most certainly regulars. I play another round studying them closely. By now, the 1 or 2 players that were losing badly in the last 3 rounds have left the server. It's just us three now. Round 4 or 5 starts and I get slaughtered. Another 15 frag loss. Something comes up and I have to stop playing. I never got to ask who they were. Based on final scores and technique and me winning by just a few when I won and losing badly when I lost, I have to point fingers at Skank for sure who has been name changing quite a bit of late and the other player I would bet was either DeathInc which wouldn't make sense because I won a few games, KindBud, but he is just like DeathInc, or Torpid who I would have to rate his skills as the player closest to my skills though he tends to beat me more often than I do him. I would have pinned Mahatma but I never really got caught in a circle of poop that is a standard routine for me when Mahatma is in the game. So I ask now, does anyone feel like fessing up???
I'm also curious about why people are name changing. I think it's sorta stupid being that all you usually do is show up under the new identity and then tell us all who you really are. What's the point? At least that's better than showing up under a new name and never telling us who you really are. Then, if you win, your old name doesn't get the credit for what the new identity just did. I could see a little strategy in showing up with a different name if you know that someone your playing knows your gameplay routine on particular maps but if that is the case, then you are playing this way too much.
That's all I guess. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday season and I hope to see you all blown to hell and back on a Redeemer Mod server near you soon!

As always,

Hermskii

what's in a name?

for me, it's

1) a name that has the letters 'c', 'l', 'e', and 'm' (not necessarily in that order) stand out in some way. for example,
[clem]Sel*FromDomain
CrystaLsphEreMagic
CLaireEMerson
MErLinCarlisle

or

2) a name that sounds cool at the time. these names usually go out of style within a few days. TeriWestlake, for example, has retreated back to her own domain of UT Domination games.

check my profile to see other names that I've used in the past:
clemmentine's profile

since you're not the only one who don't like this changeling behavior, I will stick with 1) above when I play on the redeemer servers (and CG3).

why the name-changing, you ask? it's an outlet for my ever-feebling (yes, feeble-ing, probably not a word though ) creativity. always using the same name gets a little boring; I need a bit of something new every once in a while. winning under a different name? to me, winning (and losing) is just part of the game; the fun part is to game with the people we know. what name I'm using at the time doesn't mean too much to me. I'd most likely let you know who I really am if you've tried hard enough to guess. or you can vote for a map like Crane; I'd almost always voice displeasure when it wins the mapvote. my 56k ping is also a clue. it's usually better than Deadman_Walking and slayed, and about the same or slightly better than KindBud.

you're wondering about late Saturday night (or really early Sunday morning)? I played until kind of late Saturday night so I may be able to offer some clues as to who these changelings are. for one, I'm none of them. someone by the name of sdb|CRUXAN (I probably spelled it wrong) was playing when I was on, my guess is that this guy used to go by the name cruzan or something. he's gotten pretty good and if I'm not careful, I could lose to him by 15 or so. another player who has improved quite a bit recently is VETTE, but I thought you surely have met him already. it also appears that VETTE has corrected his high ping problem on his broadband connection. Taco_Man has returned for a frag or two on occasion. or maybe it's FireBlade (aka LaraCroft) undergoing another name change. are you sure it's not Jester playing undercover? it's the holidays you know (school's out?).

happy holidays everyone!

- clemmentine

____________________________________________________________
... To the depths of the ocean where all hopes sank, searching for you,
I was moving through the silence without motion, waiting for you,
In a room with a window in the corner I found truth.

"Shadowplay" by Joy Division

Wasn't me. I always fess up. usually it only takes two frags for anyone to guess who I am any ways. More times then not a suggestive name. The other times something soft and cuddly. So I can say something like "Hows it feel to get fragged by bunny love?" or the soft cuddly name of the moment. I'm sure I'm the worst about the names. It's my excessive compulsive behavior. It manifests itself in some pretty weird ways. Could be worse though don't ya think? Maybe I should go by SYBIL. Say the doc on for a second tonight and was going to ask for advise but was gone as quick as he showed up.

Happy holidays to all and piece (yes I spelled it right) on earth

Skank

I bet it was Bo or Death.

I like keeping the names stable myself. But hey, it's cyberspace ...

Skank, I think you should go by the name, "Seka." You know why. Remember that little light blue silk scarf she used to wear? Boom!

I'm sorry, did I blow your head apart?

M

Nah...not me, bro's...although I do it now and then. Don't even have UT installed right now...reinstalled the OS again (back to 98SE...). Didn't like the thought of having to ask Billy Gates' permission to re-install XP...my frickin' software, but I have to get MicroShaft's okay to re-install (or so I am told)...
About the name changes...my privelege, m8's...usually do it to shake up a reg who is spanking newbs (or have been playing on another server where I regularly don't use the Bo persona). I almost always fess up tho...usually after laying out a hard spanking.

Bo

or, BuzzardBait, NimbleNutz, {GUI}Clam, ClamLiquor, Wrecked'Um, and a couple of others

Heck, Bo, I think that I have played one of your other persona's and didn't even know.
It wasn't me, Herm. Heck, I may (and this is questionable) be able to keep up with you, but win by 15??? Not a chance. I changed my name twice. The first was when I changed skins to the Matrix green lettered one that I still use. I called myself Jargonaut v 2.0. Sci didn't like it, so I changed it back. The second time was for Thanksgiving. For that night, I called myself Too Much Turkey. Everyone thought I was Skank, or Mah. LOL.
Name changing is okay with me. It's kinda fun tryin to figure out who the person really is. Skank is easy to figure out, cause usually I laugh at his names (not to mention the fact that that he's the only person to call me Juggy ;)

The Jargonaut
