EPIC Games Master Server is Back UP!!!
YES, as of Yesterday 4/29/2014...
EPIC Game's Master Server for UT99 was RE-Instated!
Yes, the "old" EPIC Master Server for UT99 is UP and Running.
Additionally, as reported by dragon, "Yes, Ut2004 and UT3 will be moved as well"
(Master Servers moved in-house to EPIC Games)
As I understand it, there is NO need to alter your UT.ini file for the New EPIC Master Server.
The New EPIC Master Server is the Same Address as the old address in your UT.ini files.
This is the icing on the cake and is very important.
Having the same old address will keep New Players with New installs of UT being able to play online right out of the box.
Caveats ...
We do not know how long EPIC will provide this Master Server in the future, although I would think for at least a few more years. (maybe longer? - shorter?)
So, we STILL need to provide Alternate Masters Servers, such as the long trusted and Standard Master Server provided by Darkelarious and 333Networks.
Also, we need 333Network's Masters Servers for other Unreal Engine Games that maybe EPIC does not provide for.
Anyway, VERY GOOD NEWS all around I think!
This day, April 29th 2014, will go down in UT history as one of the great days for UT
Now, let's Keep EPIC interested and PUMP UP the Playing on our Servers, and introduce as many NEW PLAYERS as we can from here on out.
