Thanks!

very nice clem. I look forward to receiving it and I'll put it on the server asap. Thanks for taking the time to provide the mutator.

Superb!!! Great Clem!

What else do we need to make this into a bona fide cult? Some vestal virgins maybe ...

Let's rock!

I've emailed Schwantz and Jargonaut the new version. this one is called MagicRedeemer-Alpha03b41.zip .

that's version alpha 03, build 41.

like before, once you've downloaded the zip file, just unzip to your ut2003\system folder and overwrite the two existing files. if you don't get the zip file and want to play on Schwantz's ut2003 server, then you'll have to delete the two MagicRedeemer.* files in your ut2003\system folder, or you'll get a file error when you try to connect to his server.

testing was done on DM-TrainingDay, DM-TokaraForest, and DM-Morbias-2k3, with the newest 2225 patch (the previous two versions were tested on 2166). I'm begining to enjoy playing against 10 bots on Morbias-2k3..

missile guiding tweaked
some adjustments were made. air speed was not changed from previous versions (still 75% of regular redeemer). changes were of the direct result of Epic's tweak in patch 2225 (did you know that Epic improved the redeemer guiding in this patch?).

no more pushing around from redeemer explosions
momentum transfer set to zero (used to be 200,000). so now a nearby redeemer blast won't push you away from your spot. this change was aided by the WeaponStuff mutator. special thanks to Trigon for finding this mutator. this applies to the blasts from both the primary fire and the secondary guided fire.

fast return from guided missile detonation
the dying state of a guided missile was changed to 'RelinquishController' sooner than before. what this means is that you pop back to normal view faster than the regular redeemer after you have exploded your guided missile (either by hitting a wall or by clicking on the other fire button to explode the missile in mid-air).

damage radius reduced
with the help of the WeaponStuff mutator, I've made the damage radius of a redeemer explosion smaller. the amount of damage was not changed. so how much did I reduce the radius by? 25%!! so now the damage radius is 75% of a regular redeemer explosion. and Morbias (2k3) plays more like the Morbias in UT.. at least for spreaders.. like the change to momentum transfer (see above), this applies to both firing modes.

there are other changes that may or may not have an effect in the game.

finally, thanks everyone for the feedback and comments, and taking the time to test this out. please let me know if there are problems. and also keep the comments coming.

Clem,

do we have to install the ZIP file on the client UT2k3 as well or is this server only ?

Thanks,

N6

getting the zip file (which contains 2 files, MagicRedeemer.int and MagicRedeemer.u) is optional if you just want to play online. that's assuming Schwantz's server is sending you the file when you connect. from what I understand (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), only the .u file is sent from the server, so you can play on the server, but you won't see the mutator on your client's mutator tab since you don't have the .int file. and because of that, you can't use this mutator when you just want to play against bots on your own computer. getting the zip file will allow you to use this mutator on your own machine.

in other words, this zip can be used on both the server and the client.

I LOVE IT. Everything you said in the big post above is TRUE. It actually is fun to play now! Thank you for removing that knock back. It was REALLY annoying to me. And I did not notice the quick return to the player view after a guided redeemer exploded... because it is just like UT Classic! The Frag Fest on Schwantz's server this Sunday night should be AWESOME!

Again, THANK YOU CLEM!
