Post subject: | Unreal Server Tips |
Did anyone know you can run your server from command line dos? I was thinking that if my pc crashed or I had to reboot...I wanted the server to run automatically. I started messing around and....wow. I found that you can run it from command line dos via batch or cmd file. I just made a batch file and put it in my startup folder. I found the command line startup configuration in the 6th line of my unreal console just after game start. It says "command line: " then all of the parameters. I made a batch file with notepad and put in the following line: cd "c:\program files\unrealtournament\system" UnrealTournament.exe server DM-ArcaneTemple.unr?Game=BotPack.DeathMatchPlus?Mutator=ArenaMatch.ArenaPhysicsMutator,ArenaMatch.ArenaMatchMutator,Relics.RelicDeath,BDBMapVote304.BDBMapVote?Listen -server log=server.log You just save the text file as a *.BAT file. Running it will start your server. For your server options, you would copy the command line parameters from your console, and paste them after "unrealtournament.exe server"....the parameters listed above happen to be mine. The server comes up ... Hope that helps someone out. I would hope to see some more tips posted for running a server if anyone knows any... |

There's More too Bigi! You can set it up to auto reboot if it ever crashes. Keep digging. It's there. i don't use the command line but I know it can be done. Good luck and sorry i didn't tell you about the batch file start up in the first place. |

http://www.merlyn.demon.co.uk/batfiles.htm might read that off hand. for general info...in windows 2000, 03 and xp....they are trying to get a new version of command line going. They still support the old dos commands...but instead of calling them batch files they are command files. FILENAME.BAT versus FILENAME.CMD I haven't studied them much...the only cmd files I have used for win2k is to switch a dhcp ip to static ip and back, via command line. As I understand, there is a lot more functionality in the cmd file as opposed to the bat file.... I am not sure if bat files work on xp, but if you change the extension to .cmd they should work fine. |

I'm gonna go drop a batch. Can't you just do a seardh for said files and then select them all and hit the delete key. Why would you want to go through all the trouble of creating a batch file to do this for you. Just curious. By the way what is DOS. Is that some antiquated OS. Naughtius everythingiseasieronaMac simus How was that Torp. |

ummm... kinda, but that would have to delete the reg which isnt as easy as it seems, no this like i said to stop ppl having stuff like mp3 etc on public computer, remember i work for the uni and have to deal with stuff like this, as the uni is liable for fraud due to it being there bandwidth, we have stopped the p2p sharing but there is web sites out there that you can download mp3s, and there is well too many. And they download as zip files so them mp3 tag isn't there. Why would i want to make a virus like that??? nothing wrong with that stuff, also I would copy them instead, :P |
