Although I don't profess to be a country music fan I am saddend by the passing of a musical Legend. I recall sitting on the living room floor as a kid while my Dad played Johnny Cash as loud as my mom would allow him. I actually have a few MP3's which I very rarely listen to. i decided to play them today when i picked up my daughter. I have to admit that it put a smile on my face when my daughter requested a second playing of "Don't Take Your Guns To Town". I'm not sure how many of you guys like covers but if you get a chance give a listen to Johnny Cash's cover of N.I.N. "Hurt". It's pretty good. |

I am DEFINITELY NOT a country music man, but the "Man in Black" had a place in the hearts of both myself and the wife. Ya gotta respect a man that wears black and sings about killing, hellfire and damnation. He will be missed. PS: Also making the obituaries today: John Ritter of 3's Company. |

I am sure everyone from the Generation X likes J Cash. I personally listen to Eminem, 50Cent, 2Pac, Limp Bizkit, Lincoln Park...that type of music...big 2pac fan... and a mourner of Bigi Smalls...the notorious B.I.G....rest in peace. J Cash has been making music years before I was born and my whole life. The man has a way with words. I don't consider him country... WHAT ARE YOU THINKING the man raps. If you look at todays music...all of these muscians where influenced by his music. He is the godfather of Rock, the brother of RAP, and the Uncle of Soul. Music wouldn't be what it is today without him. |

I like Johnny Cash music I an not counrty Fan but He wasn't only one die thurs.John Ritter, the son of country music legend Tex Ritter, came to fame in the 1970s comedy Three's Company , and found himself a new hit with 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, an ABC television comedy. The entertainment world received a double shock today, with the deaths of country music giant Johnny Cash and comic actor John Ritter. |

I didn't like JC when I was young but realized his greatness as I aged. I'm actully more bothered with John Ritter's death. I grew up watching him weekly. I shocked when I heard he had died too. God bless them both. |

I as well would like to openly mourn the passing of the man in black. My childhood memories of the man in black were given to me , as well, by my father. We took a trip to Yellowstone when I was 10 and dad played so much Johhny Cash that i have memorized songs that I had no idea I had memorized. About 3 years ago I started buying the man in black's albums again and found this immense sublime connection with past memories. I can VIVIDLY remmber my whole family, even my sister only 8 at the time, bellowing out 'Burning ring of fire'. I think the connection i have with the man in black now is that he sang about what was important to him, and him alone. I see the same connection in my art. Very few of my collegues and friends share my dark hatred for our race. In fact i am outcast by many for such 'blasphemous' or 'negative' ideas and motivations. But remember this..........to see the darkness only makes the light that much brighter. |
