I'm going out of town to the beach where Tropical Storm Erika is. I have family visiting in Galveston so I'll be there till Saturday night. Normally, I'd be concerned about the servers crashing but since I put CG and HOH on their own new and improved piece of crap server, they haven't crashed once. CG is about where I want it at this time. New things about CG are that MapVote is no longer running on it and it only has the maps that came with the game and the ones in bonus packs 1, 3 and 4. This will ensure that all the maps get cycled and that everyone has an even chance of winning based on map experience when it comes to the new folks. CG has a total of 37 maps and I expect to keep it that way from now on unless Epic releases another map pack for UT1. HOH is basically a flawless copy of the old CG except it has a few more maps than before and it never crashes anymore. Deck Ruin and Deck Ancient compliments of Scify are two of the new ones. I'm anxious to put more maps there so send them in but they need to be just the map.unr and nothing else. This keeps it very simple and manageable for me. Skins are being accepted at this time too but remember, the more people have to download, the fewer people will show up. Proof is if you look right now, CG will have about 5 people on it and HOH will be empty. Bo's "Nuclear Winter Redeemer Outpost" is another server that runs everything on it except that his actually has players show up! LOL If you haven't been there, I highly recommend that you give it a go. HOH still has MapVote too by the way. Between the two servers, I expect to leave CG totally alone from this point and just enjoy seeing new folks on it and HOH will be the play toy server that I will modify often. Both are on a PII 350 box right now that Will be getting two more improvements and then I'm done with it. It will get a PIII 500 chip and 600 more MBs of ram. From there, the only changes will be to make modifications to HOH's maps, skins and voice packs etc. That's it for now. Hope everything is good with each of you. Peace! |

Have a good trip. Surfing is always fun during a tropical storm. Also wind-sailing. 8) Maybe a way to avoid tons of donwloads for HOH is to have theme-months and choose one extra custom skin that month. Like Asia-Carrerra-month! Then the Jester month. And so on. |

You're gonna have a real fun time. I drove to the beach a few years ago when hurricane Floyd was sitting and spinning in place off of the coast. Couldn't see past my windshield, but it didn't slow me down a bit. Someone actually took a picture of me holding on to a pole, while the wind held me up. Had a great time. |

Herm I think you're nuts. :o The storm is in Mexico as I type this, just below Brownsville TX. I'd get inland if I were you. Intellicast Weather Radar |

Well, I'm back! I didn't expect any good weather but I got to see the nephew that stays with me each summer and his whoe family. We got there and it started to sprinkle. That stopped and it was a warm muggy night already at the time so we went to bed. Next day, (today, Saturday), we wake up and go to a Mom and Pop breakfast joint. Excellent food and the sun came up like normal. We went to the beach and spent the day there. It was beautiful, perfect weather. I got a nice sunburn then we went into town for a very nice dinner and came back home since our babysitter for the dogs had to back out of the second day watch. I'm glad to be home and even happier we had perfect weather the whole time we were there today. Thanks for all of the well wishes for my little trip and Maximus, let me say that it is a Windows system! I cjecked and sure enough. It never crashed! |
