Yeah...at about 4:10 pm the power went out. My first thought was that maybe the quantum engine I use to power NWRO had ruptured the space-time continuum...damn, that blotter acid gives you strange thoughts. Anyways, the power came back on here about midnight...hope that it stays on. Too frickin' humid here amongst the Great Lakes to go without A/C for too long...

Yeah they're probably using XP on the systems that run that power station up in Niagra. It probably crashed during an intense game of solitaire.

You know whats even scarier. Our government just signed a huge deal with microsoft to have its rock solid impenitrable OS (Windows XP) placed on all it computers in the CIA & FBI. I feel so much safer now.

I just finished reading the specs on the G5 for the 20th time and I might be buying Apple's 23" High definintion display http://www.apple.com/displays/acd23/ So I'm feeling my oates. :D I've been doing everything on 1 15" display and it's killing me not to have the extra display. If I get the 23" I wouldnt have a need for a second display but I think I'll keep the 15" just to keep the "Whooaa" factor when friends stop by and see both displays in all their glory.

Taken straight from the website:

"And it comes with an even more astonishing price: $1999."

I have to say though that it is the most beautiful monitor I have seen. Too bad it costs as much as a Sony Wega XBR ...

Actually I'm getting it for $1799 with my student discount. This price is down from $3499 1 year ago. I agree it's a lot of money but just to prove that the price of Apple products is not as astronomical as everyone believes click on the link below.

resolution is only 1600 by 1200 if you can believe it.

At one point I believe one of you guys asked me if you could use this with a PC. It might have been Trigon. Well I happened to stumble across this and thought maybe someone might be interested.

Hey folks...

Don't be surprised if NWRO is up and down at times in the near future. Apparently, they haven't quite sorted all the problems out yet, and are predicting rolling blackouts for up to 2 hours at a time around here. Was driving around town today, and was surprised to see all the areas that the power has not yet come back on in. London is really only a mid-sized city, around 325,000 people, but with about half of the traffic lights still out, driving around made me feel more like I was in Toronto or NYC...scary how many people out there don't have the foggiest notions of traffic rules in case of a blackout...decided to get home quickly before I was involved in a major accident...cya out there...

No power here from 4:10 pm until 2:46 am. The power was still down at the Toronto airport and vicinity at 2pm.

What really surprised me were the lineups for gasoline that were still going on at 1 pm today. I would have thought that everyone who needed it would have had some by then. I was down to 1/8th tank, so I had to join one of the lineups. :doubt:

They're still yakking about the possibility of rolling blackouts. What's really funny is the way that New York is blaming Canada for the trouble, and our guys say it was due to a problem at Niagara Falls N.Y.
I say stop pointing fingers and get on with the job of fixing it, dammit! :?

Update: It's now been over 24 hours, and there are still many areas without power. Some have no water as a result too. We're getting lots of warnings about rolling brownouts, and are being told to unplug our appliances when we're done using them. I'd hate to lose this computer. Maybe I'll just shut down for the night shortly.
