1. The guy that did the OpenGL driver that I use has again updated the driver. I have found it to be very nice to use but the install can be confusing. He's at:

The other thing is the forum and this BBS seem to be loading gif.s very slow. Anyone else?

Good catch, Herm :D
I downloaded and installed it. Works great! I suggest that everyone else try this as it is FAR superior to Direct 3D!

I have since rebooted and it seemed to load slow still but that was yesterday or a couple of days ago. It is running great right now. Thanks.

I replaced the stock OpenGL dll file with this latest version. It seems to run ok. I think I'm seeing some nicer textures on some objects. This version of OpenGL sure isn't dark. Everything is quite bright. Some items shine and glow that didn't before. :)

I've been running in OpenGL with this file for a week now, and it really is nicer. No hit on framerates, and the textures are much nicer. The main thing that seems to work better, is that when I quit the game, I no longer have to sit around forever waiting for the music to stop, so that I can open another program.

Sometimes when the game starts, I see odd looking windows on my desktop for a second, then I see my desktop in lower resolution with washed out colours. But I hear the music normally. All I have to do to get into the game is click on Unreal Tournament in the taskbar, and I'm on my way.

Hi guys

I just tried this new openGL driver. I used to use it a long time ago with the compressed textures. Do we no longer need those textures?

Also, when I run UT in openGL, the refresh rate of my monitor changes to 60Hz -- you can detect the flicker. How do I push it back to my usual 85?

OK, in order to change your refresh rate, you have to add a line to your unrealtournament.ini file. Sorry just talking to myself.

It looks better than D3D, but don't the compressed textures make a difference? If so, I need to get that 600 MBs from somewhere. I erased all my compressed textures during a reinstall.

I have a GeForce 4 card and have been running in D3D. I just loaded this OGL driver and WOW !!!! what a difference! Much brighter, less contrasty. THANKS LOADS for this info. No wonder I just hated darker maps.

OpenGL looks much better. I still have the problem with dark images. My UT settings are brightness 10/10.

Oh wow! I just played in New Mega Tomb with the Open GL. What a difference! This map is beautiful! Not just pretty, beautiful!
Halls of Redemption and Anubis are way, way nicer too!

Seeing as I can now multitask, when I could not before in D3D, I will not be going back. I am not using those special 3D textures that came on the second cd. Just the stock ones. So they're still 2D, but there is beautiful detail that just doesn't exist in D3D to be seen, when you have time to look.

Sci,
Stick with what you have right now. Iwill write up an instruction set for you over the next couple of weeks so that it will work for you on the first try. It will take a while ok?
