I will probably need the help of the alternate OS folks.

That's right. I now have a copy of Linux Red Hat 9. Now for the tricky part. I have a partition especially for Red Hat. Before I install, I have a question. Will I be able to to boot from that partition to Linux?
My main OS is, of course, Win XP.

Make sure it installs "Grub". That gives you the choice to boot Win or Linux. Alternative, you can create a boot floppy and pop it in whenever you like to boot into Linux.

No guaranties, and no batteries included :-)

The box says nothing about grub.. I may have to download that one. I assume that I can...

I have installed Red Hat. It is not as easy as Windows, but I think I got it right. I just do not know where everything is just yet in the OS. I had a heck of a time figuring out how to connect to the internet with a modem... This should be an interesting experience. Does anyone know of any places to get programs for Linux on the web?

Schwantz hooked me up with this link a while back. I'm positive that everything you need to know and use can be found by going through this website and looking for it or asking for it. Good luck. I'm still too old and afraid to try something new so I'll wait a little longer first and watch several others try first. What do you want to do with it now that you have it? Are you going to serve from it?

LOL, You've seen my connection speed. I'm afraid that is not an option now. I just want to get my feet wet in Linux. I think that in the future, it will be BIG.
Thanks for the link.
